Argh nits (DD's best friend!)

Just been told DD's best friend and her brother have head lice. Had a quick look through DD's hair, no lice as far as I can see. Unsure about nits or if it's fine dandruff. No itching - although from what I've just read it can take 24 days until itching begins 😱

What do I need to do? I have a nit comb and some tea tree shampoo and am going to the shop tomorrow. I'm planning to sit her in the bath this afternoon with some of the shampoo in her hair for a good 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly and comb. Wash her bedding and towels. Do I need to buy the expensive lice shampoo or is conditioner enough? I've never had lice, neither has DH nor either of the DC.

Slap conditioner on her hair, section hair and comb through. If you see lice, then treat with lice treatment.

You can get 99p tea tree lice deterrent spray from Home Bargains which I use and this seems to keep the critters at bay.

Don't use chemicals until you really have to. Just wash hair as normal, then bung conditioner on and use nit comb to comb through. Also put hair up in bunches, plaits whatever she'll keep in and try to avoid her not to touch heads with anyone.
