Sick with tonsillitis

If you or your child suffer from tonsillitis does it make you vomit?
I've had tonsillitis a few times but never been sick. DD1 is suffering with tonsillitis at the moment. She was sick on Monday a few times and has been sick again this morning.
Normal with tonsillitis and we've just been lucky before ?

Not unusual.

Yes my DD was sick with it last year. Just once, and we assumed it was a stomach bug at first but then she had several days of no energy, no appetite and fever and the GP diagnosed tonsillitis and gave antibiotics.

I think it's quite common for children to vomit, either because of the fever (I think this was the case with my DD), or because their tonsils have got pus which then gets swallowed and irritates the stomach.

That's good to know. I think I was just worried because she wasn't sick between Monday and today but if it's a normal symptom I'm less worried

Any chance her tonsils are swollen...which is making her gag? My son had tonsillitis last week. His tonsils were like ping-pong balls which made him sick several times as they triggered his gag reflex.

Hope your daughter is feeling better soon.

Mine has tonsillitis all the time and isn't sick (surprisingly and thankful given the severe reflux hell for the first year) but it's a pretty common symptom.
