Full of the stinking cold.
Aches, chills, cough...ugh grim.
Anyone else feeling cruddy?
Luckily I can WFH but my job is so stressful it makes me feel worse.
And now I think I've lost part of a filling.

Yup. Started this morning. Work with vulnerable babies so had to call in sick tonight. Which I hate doing. Hoping to be over the worst by tomorrow!

ohsoverrrrytired · 03/04/2024 20:54

Me!! DS caught something at nursery and kindly passed it to me. Feel absolutely rotten, runny nose but completely stuffed up, chills, body aches, sinus pain, cough, bad tummy the lot! It's only been 2 bloody days 😭 AND it's half term so trying to keep the DC entertained while so poorly is crap. Hope we all feel better soon!

Whiskers4 · 03/04/2024 21:31

I started feeling off Monday of last week, chills, headache, tiredness and it took until Good Friday to come out. Luckily I'm sleeping really well 8-9 hours deep sleep at night and a couple of one hour naps each day. Feeling a bit better today, but DH is on his first day. Typical, I've got two weeks off and it started on the first day.

Yup, haven't been able to shift it since last week, hoping it's on its way out!

TotteringonGently · 03/04/2024 22:01

YES. Every time the Easter holiday begins, without fail I get the worst cold of the year. I'm a teacher, my immune system obliges me by hanging on til the end of term then collapses in a heap. The toddler has it as well which is obviously excellent.

QueenBitch666 · 03/04/2024 22:15

Me. Week number 3 now. 2 weeks of dry hacking nighttime cough with barely any sleep. Now snotty with rattling throat. 2 lots of antibiotics and shares in strepsils. I'm sick to death of it. I miss my gym 😓

Toddlerteaplease · 03/04/2024 22:31

Yep, started coughing last Friday. Felt exactly the same as when I had Covid on Sunday, but negative. Now nose is running like a tap!

justanothermanicmonday1 · 03/04/2024 23:09

Yup.

Been suffering for two weeks now! Yesterday and today have been the worst and I have two small children and DP is at work whilst I'm on maternity.

Awful!

DDivaStar · 03/04/2024 23:21

Had a virus 2 weeks ago, knocked me out for 4 days. But still struggling with my energy levels....

lapochette · 04/04/2024 07:08

I'm coming to the end of it now hopefully but still have a chesty cough and stuffy nose. Started 4 weeks ago, then developed into a chest infection and bronchitis which I had to have antibiotics to clear. I've not been unwell in years so not sure why this particular virus got me!

ArghhWhatNext · 04/04/2024 07:12

Me. I’m a teacher and caught it from a child just before autumn half term. Every time I think it’s going, I meet another person with a cold and this comes straight back at my chest with a vengeance. I seem to have lost the energy to walk up a hill properly and have certainly lost every holiday this year to it and it’s completely doing my head in.

Nagado · 04/04/2024 07:29

I’m on week four. I’ve been able to work from home and thought I was starting to feel better but woke up yesterday feeling so rough that I took the day off and went back to bed.

I miss the days when a cold only lasted for a week or so.

ViciousCurrentBun · 04/04/2024 08:42

Took me 5 weeks to recover and as @Nagado writes things seem to be taking much longer to clear up. I’m in my fifties and just thought maybe it’s because I’m older but much younger friend's are saying the same. I have had maybe six bouts of a really bad virus in my life, the sort that puts you in bed for a week and really take it out of you with fevers, losing weight, feeling dreadful. They now take longer to recover from. My Mum had awful flu about 15 years ago she was in her eighties and it took her 3 weeks to recover which annoyed her. Now I hear of friends in their forties who get really ill but it really lingers. Also seems like mild sniffles are less common and all colds are much worse but they aren’t flu.

crackofdoom · 04/04/2024 08:48

Me too, and I'm rarely ill. Neither is DS2 (100% attendance last year) and he's had it too. I wonder if it's quite a novel form of a virus that we have no resistance to? Could it be another form of Covid? I don't know of anyone getting a positive LFT though.

I'm really sad because DS2 is at cub camp and DS1 and I were looking forward to some rare time with just the 2 of us- we were going to go for a long hike together etc. Instead I've been in bed, and he's been on his phone for 2 days solid 😬

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 04/04/2024 10:28

My boss has had it two weeks.
I'm hoping it's just going to pass soon. I miss the gym and I still actually have an appetite. I wonder if that's normal with this lurge?

I have an assignment to do today that is due in tomorrow. Ugh I cannot seem to get it done 😕

@Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair Yes,
weirdly I still have an appetite too! I polished off two rounds of toast this morning with absolute ease Grin usually the only "benefit" to being unwell is I lose a few pounds! Hope you start to feel better soon. The only thing helping with the cough and sinus pain is super hot builders tea and breathing it in constantly.

Archiesmum671 · 04/04/2024 11:13

Yes! On second week of a heavy cold. Baby has it too. Plus DH who of course has it the worst despite having the least symptoms 😉

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 04/04/2024 20:08

@ohsoverrrrytired I've eaten about 10 chicken tenders today while working from home and polished off a whole bar of cadburys Oreo.
Yes, had loads of hot tea. Trying not to do night nurse as I have an online lecture tomorrow and need to be sharp.
Managed to drink my apple cider vinegar thanks to the limited taste from my stuffy nose.

crackofdoom · 05/04/2024 11:14

Has anyone else lost their sense of smell with this? I can now breathe through my nose but can't smell anything, even when I stick my nose in the bag of fresh coffee. Obviously I have no LFTs in....🤔

haveanothertea · 06/04/2024 13:29

DS1 got it first and had it for 4 weeks now it’s my turn. Blowing out and coughing up white/yellow gunk for 2 weeks now. Blocked nostril with tired and heavy sinuses.

Doc said up my Fostair inhaler.

Not Covid.

It’s so persistent. Felt OK the other day, then worse the next. So hard with the kids off. I have no energy. Luckily DH works from home so can take them for a walk.

haveanothertea · 06/04/2024 13:35

Do u remember Copydex white glue from school in the 80’s? Looks and feels like my nose is full of that!!

Horrible bug :(

crackofdoom · 06/04/2024 13:44

Still no sense of smell, but I found a LFT in the back of the bathroom cupboard yesterday. Negative.

.....I'm still suspicious. The way it started...like a cold, that gradually worsened. That's just like Covid.

My temperature peaked at 38.6 yesterday (and I run cold), but today I'm showered and dressed and contemplating leaving the house for a previously arranged work meeting. Think I'll be crawling back to bed pretty pronto after that though.

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 06/04/2024 23:26

I've lost my sense of smell....I couldn't even smell my YSL libre despite being able to breathe through my nose ....
