Oh yes, my boss is one. He does it to subordinates too, cheap tactics but some fall for it.

Do you mean doing what management ask of you?

Itsanothermanicmonday · 03/04/2024 22:43

I think OP means always bigging themselves up at every opportunity and full of own importance to management and to anyone who will listen. Also putting others down at every opportunity. At my work they will scive off at every opportunity so they talk the talk but are not conscientious, rarely see things through often dumping things on colleagues (who quietly get on with things without always bigging themselves up) and sometimes try and pass off others work or ideas as theirs.

RockTheRunway · 03/04/2024 22:46

@Itsanothermanicmonday yep, that’s my boss you have described. In my circle of trust we have diagnosed him as a narcissist too.

No I don't mean doing what your told to do sucking up to management has absolutely nothing to do with doing what your told to do if you don't know never mind 🙄

It can be a derogatory term aimed at people who actually work hard and therefore get on in terms of promotion, or someone who sucks up but doesn't actually put in the work. Which are we talking about?

Nicetobenice67 · 04/04/2024 08:23

Someone who sucks up but doesn’t actually work …nothing to do with someone who works so hard …so don’t take this out of context there is a difference…

You have taken this completely out of context it has absolutely nothing to do with hard working people!!!
