How's your hayfever?

Is anyone else struggling with hayfever? I actually wondered if I was coming down with something, it's so bad.

Aches and pains etc, made me think I was getting flu but reading up, it looks it's part of an inflammatory response.

I should have sorted this out last week but there seems to be a shortage of my medication.

I have ended up ordering online and I'm hoping it arrives tomorrow. Beconase and OTC Piriton aren't touching it.

Sadly me too. My hayfever was through the roof this morning. It's calmed down a bit since the antihistamines have kicked in.

It's been a full on ichy eyes and face kind of day 😫

@Muffinbutton sorry to hear that.

I find Fexofenadine helps with the itchiness, have you tried it?

Nothing is shifting the general ill feeling.

Unless I've caught the edge of a bug.? but given the hayfever symptoms are driving me nuts, I don't think it is a bug. I haven't got a fever or anything.

I had it really badly over the weekend, similar shivers, tingles and loads of snot. The smaller damson trees are in full flower, luckily it rained which dampened things a bit.

Monday morning myself son and his girlfriend all started with it. Even with fexofenadine we're all suffering. The dogs bringing in pollen doesn't help. My nose running like a tap until it's kicked in. My eyes all crusted up.

EmmaEmerald · 03/04/2024 17:16

Sorry to hear others are suffering
I vaguely recall this happening last year...either the chemist gave good advice and products, or my hayfever lessens later on in the year?

Really hope I can get the right stuff tomorrow. Two chemists have closed locally and the others a bus ride away don't have what I wanted.

So with no fever, but shivers and aches and pains and sneezing, I think I'll assume hayfever. I can't visit mum as I can't risk passing it on.

No work this week but have wasted two days flopping about MNing as I feel rubbish.

@EmmaEmerald I hadn't heard of fexofenadine so I'll definitely look into that, thank you.

Where we live is surrounded by farms and I noticed last week that the oil seed rape was starting to flower so it's probably that making me bad at the moment.

I usually try to have local honey as that's supposed to help too but haven't bought any yet this year. Must add to the to-do list.

@Muffinbutton I sometimes get heat rash in summer and it helps with that too. You can just buy that in shops now. I think it might have been prescription only in the past. Usually sold as Allevia or Treathay.

You can get lower dose fexofenadine in lots of places - supermarkets, B&M, Home Bargains. But it's a lower dose than you get prescribed from the GP.
Definitely worth a try though. Much cheaper than a prescription.
