Is it possible I'm the other woman?

I'm not, I've never had any sexual relationship with this man and see him as a friend.

He's fairly recently left a long marriage. He says there was no one else, they just grew apart, he wanted more from life. He has told me both his mother and his wife are convinced there's an OW, which he thinks is outrageous of them.

I first met him about 2 years ago, but for a long time he was just a passing aquaintance. Thus time last year we competed in an event together, which was fun, but we were very rarely in touch away from that.

In Summer 2023, he told me (and others when we were having coffee) that his marriage was struggling and at various times after that , he'd remark on different things he was doing to make an effort, e.g couldn't stay for coffee as he was going home to do xyz with DW. Genuinely seemed to want things to work out at that point.

In October, he hadn't been himself for a couple of weeks, I asked what was up and he said they'd separated at the start of the month.

Since then, we've become quite good friends. He's had more time and we've trained together. We'd never messaged each other before then, but since Christmas it's become quite regular, multiple times a day. He's never made a move, I'm assuming he's using me for all the daily chat you usually have with a spouse, without the need to commit etc and that's fine with me, I'm not looking for a partner.

However, someone said something recently which suggested he feels something for me, which is the reason he became dissatisfied with his marriage.

If it is, he's never mentioned it to me and has always behaved just as friends, albeit that the contact has become more frequent than I'd be comfortable with if it was my DH and a female friend (I'm single btw).

You're not the other woman.

He may have developed feelings for you, which made him dissatisfied in his marriage, but it's not clear that that is the case.

If he had then he has done the right thing and ended a marriage he wasn't happy with.

Yes, I know I'm not an actual OW, but I wonder if I could be the person his mother and wife are convinced exists.

I actually have a suspicion it might be an other man. He has a friend who I've never met who he mentions a lot and I sometimes think he looks a bit gooey eyed when he talks of him.
