Asthma in your 40's

Colds hit harder with asthma in middle age!

I've got two young boys to keep up with too and I'm wiped out. Inhalers are helping but I've no energy. Always in the school holidays 😫

Anyone else?

Maybe it's perimenopause hitting you with the tiredness

I also have terrible lung health this year wondered if it was long Covid or something?

Or I'm just old and knackered?

Might be worth checking in with the Asthma Nurse. My GP surgery take me very seriously when a cold triggers my otherwise stable asthma. I used to just increase my usual regime (Symbicort) with an occasional puff of Ventolin. But since having Covid every cold is hideous. Last time the AN switched me to various different inhalers, none of which made any difference until Trelogy. It was excellent and I was fully recovered and back to my normal Symbicort after 1 month. So next time a cold knocks me back I'm going to ask to switch to Trelogy straight away, rather than struggle for several months.

I’ve just spoken to the doctor and she said I can take my Fostair as a reliever as well during a cold so up to 8 puffs a day of that. I can feel the difference even after the extra two puffs I took following the phone call. Yes this cold is my first one since Covid last November and it has been a bad one. Interestingly my nine-year-old son has gone down hard with this cold and for four weeks he’s had loads of snot coming out and he had Covid a couple of years ago.

Glad you’ve found that helpful Aparecium. Everyone’s asthma treatment is different isn’t it?! The asthma nurses are great.
