World Central Kitchen convoy bombing

Has there been a thread on this as I can't see one?

How can something like this even happen?

The name of the organisation was written on the top of the truck that was bombed!

WCK have suspended all operations in Gaza now meaning the aid they were providing now isn't taking place.

Regardless of your views on this war, this seems to suggest that they are bombing indiscriminately which is hugely dangerous for all other aid agencies operating in the area.

It happened because they were intentionally targeted not just once but targeted 3 separate vehicles that had their logo,

I don’t understand how people are asking how can this happen??
45000 people have been killed intentionally many doctors and paramedics.

if you kill the aid workers then charities won’t send any aid in as there is no one to distribute it. And our government is selling arms to this maniac army.

KenAdams · 03/04/2024 07:22

At least a few more leaders are speaking out about it now. They weren't when it was "just" Palestinians.

I also think that using “indiscriminate” is unfortunate. This was, as always, a targeted attack to neutralize efforts at avoiding starvation.
Of all the adjectives that could be used, I feel “genocidal” is the most appropriate.

soupfiend · 03/04/2024 07:27

I think this could seriously see the end of Israel as a viable world state.

Kuji · 03/04/2024 07:28

There’s a thread on it in the Conflict in the Middle East board (linked below). Frankly I believe the thread should be on the main board especially considering 3 of those murdered were Britons (may they rest in peace).

it’s a horrific incident but not surprising at all given how Israel has behaved for the past 6 months. They’ve killed 15,000 children for gods sake and are intentionally starving millions, what’s a few foreign aid workers in the grand scheme of things? The fact our government are supporting and even arming them is beyond repulsive.

Killing of 5 Foreign Aid Workers from the World Central Kitchen | Mumsnet

I've just seen on social media graphic videos of 5 dead aid workers from Australia, Austrian and British. The WCK are the people responsible for the s...

Ah thank you @Kuji I wasn't even aware there was a board.

The founder has said that they were targeted attacks as well, I'm not surprised they are stopping their operations.

Mumsnet created a board for discussion of stuff like this, presumably so people can hide the topic. Discussion of this needs to be mainstream, not hidden away in some corner.

Evil

ParsonsPont · 04/04/2024 06:02

It was clearly deliberate. Bombing three separate vehicles was no accident and it now ensures that aid won’t reach the Palestinians.

But hey, call it a genocide and await the MNers who will find any means to deny it (as often seen on the Conflict board).

Stickyricepudding · 04/04/2024 06:11

The IDF did it on purpose to force aid agencies to pull out of Gaza so hunger can finish off the Palestinians. They are deliberately taking advantage of the situation so they can grab as much land as possible. This was very obvious from the beginning and fucking Hamas handed Gaza to the Israelis on a platter with a bow on top.

Arms sales to Israel: Top judges urge UK to halt weapons trade

Lawyers and academics say arms sales must end due to the 'plausible risk of genocide' in Gaza.

I always said from the start isreal needed to come up with a better way to deal with the atrocity against them.
Unfortunately all this has done longer term is create a whole new new army agaisnt them as tales of all thus reaches another's generation.
All the top hammas people live abroad anyway.

Winning harts and minds would have been better along with obviously better border control systems.

They would have gained the moral upper hand by a different sort of "retaliation" and perhaps helped to stop this cycle by trying to reach the next generation of Palestinians and helping them in a different way to free themselves of hammas.

DomPom47 · 04/04/2024 07:51

It happened because not all lives are important.
There isn’t a big enough fuss because again not all lives are important.
The Israeli government has carte blanche to do what they want as they have friends in the UN who veto any humane actions like wanting an immediate seize fire. This means that The Israeli government will carry on with its actions and unfortunately the death rates of innocent men, women and children will carry on. Also watch this space later on for settlements in Northern Gaza which will again be ignored by the international community.
The terrorists acts that took place in October were disgusting - full stop, no justification for what Hamas did.
There is also no justification for what is happening in Gaza, there is no justified action for the current death toll, bombing hospitals and deliberately letting a group of people starve to death. History will not look on the UK government and the US government kindly especially in this age of technology where we can see the tragedy unfolding before us in Gaza.
There needs to be change things cannot stand us they are there needs to be a two state solution and people need to get a better understanding of what is happening past and present.

Edited

I know the threads at the beginning of this situation were quite contentious but I think this escalation is a separate issue and agree it needs discussing in the mainstream.

You'll note I've been careful not to discuss the actual Israel Palestine conflict itself in my posts for that very reason.

Three British civilians have been killed (among others) so why shouldn't the largely UK based MN base discuss it in the mainstream is my take.

IsadoraQuill · 04/04/2024 07:58

There are already Israeli settlers who are openly discussing which beach front property they are going to snap up in Gaza once the war is finished.

This was a targeted attack to dissuade aid agencies from operating in the area. This is just another step in the plan for genocide. Israel will not stop until every last Palestinian has been exterminated.

Unfortunately, nothing will change in terms of the West's approach to these genocidal monsters. The US is beholden to the very powerful pro Israeli lobby group and will continue to support Israel, turning a blind eye to their war crimes whilst providing ongoing weapons support. It's a grim, grim time and I see no hope at all for the Palestinian people, of whom I believe around 50% are under 18.

cakeorwine · 04/04/2024 08:07

Out of sight, out of mind. And I bet this thread gets moved because people don't want to see it.

3 vehicles deliberately targetted by a drone. Did the drone pilot not see the logo on any of the vehicles.

And now the charity feeding people has suspended operations.

Well done Israel. And by Israel, I mean the Israeli Government.

cakeorwine · 05/04/2024 18:02

So they thought one of the people was a gunman
They fired a missile from a drone at the van.
Some people escaped and went to a second vehicle

This got hit by a missile

They went to a 3rd vehicle. It then got hit.

But mistaken identity.

How many civillians have been killed this way because of mistaken identity?

wayfairer · 18/08/2024 09:25

Totally targeted! No mistakes there! You don't kill by accident when you were given the planned route, all information regarding the vehicles and who was in them and why and can clearly see the logo. They do this all the time though to news reporters paramedics etc
