Most played with hot wheels toys please?

Hello,

We have just had a big toy clear out and passed on toys that my little ones have never been interested in.

They currently love hot wheels and have lots of cars and monster trucks (the size similar to standard hot wheels cars) but don’t have any tracks, launchers, petrol stations etc.

Can you please let me know which hot wheels sets / items your little ones have had a lot of play out of, and in particular have any of the monster truck tracks / sets been a hit? We are looking to add a few sets as we know that they love the cars/trucks and continually play with them, cost / size isn’t really an issue as I’d be open to picking the larger items up second hand.

thank you

My son has the big car park thing, but hasn't really bothered with it beyond the ramps.

Maybe just get some track? We've got a two lane thing that has a starting gate and finish line thing that pops up to show who's the winner. He loves it, but you will get pestered to play.

Thank you - yes, I think some track is a good idea! The one with the finishing line sounds great, so I’ll have a search.

Although I’m also trying to find something that fits the monster trucks, so I’m hoping that someone will come along with a recommendation as there are so many mixed / sponsored reviews on retailer websites.

The tracks are only rarely played with in my car obsessed house, and the sets like the gorilla etc are rubbish. The monster truck downhill race and go set however is played with all the time.

Also the matchbox action drivers sets are pretty cool

We have the hot wheels roll out raceway that is played with almost constantly and can be set up without any adult help which is a bonus. We have lots of track too but I find time spent playing with it is generally far less than time spent building it.

Fantastic- thank you for the downhill track recommendation! They had been asking for the similar monster truck Wreckin raceway, but I think your recommendation might be a better option.

Also thank you for saving me from the gorilla set, as that’s one that they’ve seen in store & had added to their list!

My son has a launcher that sends the cars into a loop and they fly out the other side. It fits a regular hot wheels and a monster truck (it came with one of each too!). He loves it and tbh I enjoy playing with it with him. The cars get quite a lot of distance too!

He has the big garage with a ramp but he got bored of it quite quickly (which is annoying as it was so expensive 😭 £50 I think, and sometimes the cars get jammed and don't go up the lift to the top)

Thank you for the launcher recommendation - they love both trucks and cars, so that sounds great! Does he okay with it often?

do you know the name as I was struggling to find one that also fits trucks! Thank you

Stay simple.....a basic track with a loop is usually the best fun combined with a nice wooden garage for the cars to park in.

QforCucumber · 02/04/2024 20:56

both ds here got the ultimate garage as a shared Xmas present - they’re 8 and 3, and it has been played with every single day since Xmas. It’s huge and cost a fortune (even when on Black Friday sale) but they absolutely love it!

thank you so much to everyone! These are great recommendations!

mixed reviews on the ultimate garage, so I’ll hold off on that at the moment unless I come across a great second hand deal.

Collecting the monster truck downhill track and roll out raceway tomorrow which will hopefully buy me some downtime around our Easter holiday days out.

Now I need to work on some decent storage for the mound of cars and monster trucks that are constantly all over our playroom!

We have the speed track as I like that it rolls up and can be packed away. We've even taken it away with us on trips. We also have this Hape stunt garage.

All the matchbox cars/monster trucks etc are just stored in a basket. Part of the fun seems to be tipping them all over the floor! But at least the have one place to get tidied back in to. I've seen some really clever storage ideas and display shelves on Pinterest though

There is a criss cross race track.....my sons used to love it (now 18 and 15 and still playing with it 🤣🤣

Snugglemonkey · 02/04/2024 22:30

My dc obsesses about them, asks santa for them, does not play with them much at all. Honestly, we moved nearly a year ago and 5 sets are in binbags not even put up. One was around £100 🙈 received for Christmas, taken down in March, not looked for once. I am never buying any more, even though he is eyeing up other sets!

Alltheusefulitems · 02/04/2024 22:33

@Mamawanna for storage we have a large metal tin specifically for hot wheels with a handle that my 3.5 year old pulls around quite happily. Each little compartment fits 2 cars so we fit plenty in

Mamawanna · 03/04/2024 00:00

@Snugglemonkey Haha, this is what I am trying to avoid!!

We have the megawrex which chomps and eats monster trucks which gets a lot of use https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/construction-and-cars/car-toys/hot-wheels/hot-wheels-playsets/hot-wheels-monster-trucks-car-chompin-mega-wrex/p/198661 as well as lots of other random sets but this one gets a lot of use. We have the chomping shark and the dragon that spits out cars too, but those are for normal size cars rather than monster trucks

@DinosaurOfFire thank you - that looks like a good option for encouraging them picking them back up after scattering them everywhere!

My DS saved up to buy the Ultimate Garage and got about three years of constant play out of it, it was the centrepiece for most of his car related adventures and also served as storage for the cars. It only went because he outgrew toy cars.

This is my son's favourite

Mamawanna · 03/04/2024 01:31

@CandyCaneLane0 do the cars actually go around the loop rather than just falling off? Thank you
