Cheap safe room near WHITECHAPEL for 2 nights (10&11th April)?

Ds (19) has an interview & needs company. I need to take Dd (15) as no cover.
I'm looking at Premier Inn & cheapest is around £212 (Greenwich) or Tower Hill is £280. Dear God - we already need to spend £££££ train travel from Scotland.
Does anyone know if there are any hostels / cheap but clean & safe beds in area that would cost less please? I need next Weds & Thurs (10th & 11th)

is train definitely cheaper than flying? I go up and down a lot between Stansted and Glasgow and Edinburgh and the flights can be really cheap sometimes.

You could maybe do 1 night if you fly? Stansted connections into East London are very straightforward.

When you say “near Whitechapel” do you need to be within walking distance? Easy to get there on District or Hammersmith &City line. But for walking distance have you checked the Travelodge at Aldgate? My colleagues often use that as a late crash when they have work events as our office is near there.

The Easyhotels are cheap and okay. Fine for a young one. Edited to say that you may not like the windowlessness!

Could you check flying into city? That tends fo be cheaper. Also look at PI around docklands. Similarly Borough/Elephant and castle/

I’m not sure how many rooms you are looking for.

I’ve put your dates and Whitechapel as a location into booking.com.

There are loads of cheaper options than Premier Inn, both hotels and private. I never do private but cheaper hotels are fine just to crash.

How close do you need to be? Can you just go out on the tube until the price drops, or late rooms/last minute mystery hotels in Docklands area.

Beckton Premier Inn is adequate and on the DLR. Also look at Stratford. But anywhere on the tube/overground network with good links in is pretty convenient within London.

Have you checked the private room options for YHA (but school holidays might mean they're booked up).

Also agree that flying is usually cheaper than the train. Could also consider seated sleeper back if there's availability as that is usually about £55/person

YHA Thameside. Private Rooms available. Usually about £100 for a 4 bed room. YHA's are clean, family friendly, and cheap! The Thameside one is recently refurbed too.

Thank you all.
I booked seated sleeper tkts on the train as it's cheap (ish...) & maximises time in London.
I found a triple single bed flat with kitchenette / shower room around the corner from the interview (over 3 days!) for £230. It's via Booking.com who I've never used before but hopefully all alright.
