Easter/Christmas scheduling

Which would be better:
a) Easter being on a fixed date each year, or
b) Christmas being a fixed day of the week

Personally, I think the lunar calendar thing that shifts Easter around is a bit shite and I never realise it's Easter until someone says they're going away on Friday because it's the bank holiday weekend. Similarly, I get bothered with the whole 'What day is Christmas on this year?' problem, as the start of the school holidays becomes totally random. Last day of term is a Monday, you say? Uh huh.

You can't alter religious festivals around the world just for convenience.

Obviously I understand that you can't just alter religious festivals.

But if you could, I think Easter being closer to a fixed date (ie fixing Easter Sunday to the second Sunday in April or something) would be better. You couldn't fix Easter to a date because it's multiple days, what if "Good Friday" wound up being a Monday - would the Monday be a bank holiday, Tuesday a regular day, and then Wednesday and Thursday 2 more bank holidays because they'd be Easter Sunday and Monday equivalents?

Christmas should stay as a fixed date/moveable day, because I like that it's a full week between Christmas and new year. If you made Christmas the last Friday in December for example, you'd sometimes overlap with new year. But if you made it the second to last Friday, sometimes the gap to new year would be too long. A week is a nice gap.

Why not? Someone just made up those dates. Some bloke, probably.
