Does anyone else feel over anxious from too much time on their hands?

I'm looking at dh, all relaxed in the couch. I am too...except my heart is racing and my breath is shallow.

Why can i not just relax like him???

Am off to take some propranolol..

Have you had your thyroid checked? Is this a new problem?

ssd · 01/04/2024 19:39

Not new, no.

Is it thyroid related?

Yeah, I'm grumpy when I have too much to do but awful at relaxing. Unless its hot and sunny. Maybe its that thing of no one to do nothing with - normally I'm busy doing things either with people or because I have to.

Yeah I hate it too. An anxious feeling in the pit of my stomach! Eg yoga and meditation actually makes me physically mad, I get bored and cold in a bath etc.

Do you HAVE to slow down? Why not do something? I do understand as ‘relax’ is always on my to do list and rest/self care is so important. I’ve started trying to get outside as soon as I wake up, 6:30ish, for 10 mins just sitting in the garden with a drink, listening to the birds etc and for some reason that doesn’t upset me. And is meant to be really good for you.

Yes I need to have a plan, I get anxious if Ive had a few days and no real focus or plans. I'm quite happy pottering about the house by myself though if everyone else is out, if they are all home though I need plans!

Also this is a big reason why I took up crochet - relaxing but productive. Telly on, feet in foot massager, crocheting and stopping every so often to add something to the Ocado order, read school emails etc……. Does that count as relaxing? 😅
