I found a bone on the beach - can anyone help ID please?

I found this vertebrae on the beach this morning; it's about 11cm long and 8cm wide, and there is a curve on the spike - I'm completely stumped! It was on the NE England coast if that is relevant, does anyone have any ideas? Thank you!

Whale vertebra

I was wondering about a whale but wasn't sure if it would be big enough...maybe a small whale species, or juvenile?
