I've got lists galore but probably forgotten all sorts. Help me out please!

I forgot the tea towel last time I went!
kitchen basics like washing up liquid, foil, cling, kitchen roll, tea and coffee etc. I don’t think there was a dish cloth either.
bath towels and swim towels if there’s a pool.

Hoglet70 · 31/03/2024 18:56

Cleaning stuff, towels, potentially loo roll as they don't leave you much.
Is there a big supermarket nearby? We always do a food shop when we have checked in.

RampantIvy · 31/03/2024 18:56

I always take my own kitchen knife.

TheShellBeach · 31/03/2024 18:57

Decent sharp knife.

Gingernaut · 31/03/2024 19:00

A reservation for a half decent hotel

Riverlee · 31/03/2024 19:05

I used to take loads of stuff. Now there’s supermarkets everywhere, so I see what the caravan has then hit the local supermarket.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 31/03/2024 19:09

Salt and pepper
Sandwich bags
Bag clips
Tea towels

HesterPrincess · 31/03/2024 19:13

Dishwasher tablets or washing up liquid
Dishcloth/scourer
Some sort of cleaning spray (you'll never know what you need it for)
Teatowels (we had 1 thin one last time we went, did my head in)
Extra towels for swimming/in case you're not left many
Decent bathmat as they're always shit thin ones!
Salt/Pepper/olive oil
My kids laugh but whenever we self cater I take a decent pan and a sharp knife!

OrangeLemonLime24 · 31/03/2024 19:15

Hand soap. One for each bathroom and one for the kitchen.

BabyofMine · 31/03/2024 19:19

The one thing I didn’t take last time that I wished I had was one of those Flash speed mops, floor was really grubby at the end of the week and would have preferred to do a quick once over at the end of the night of the kitchen and bathroom. I know you don’t go on holiday to clean but would literally have taken two minutes with one of those disposable flash mops and would have made me feel so much better.

IHateLegDay · 31/03/2024 19:28

Following as also doing self catering caravan at the weekend

DarkForces · 31/03/2024 19:31

We keep a few bits in the car that I always forget:
Charger plugs
oven glove
bin bags
dishwasher tablets
salt
matches
washing machine powder

Mammma91 · 31/03/2024 19:33

A cloth! I forgot mine last year and had to dash out to the nearest Tesco XP for some

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 31/03/2024 19:35

Most of the above items but long life milk, tea bags and coffee and some sort of snack (snack bars or croissants in a pack). At least then if the shop is closed you have something to eat and drink.

Tereseta · 31/03/2024 19:38

Swimming bags or carrier bags. I take the whirly peg thing to peg out swimsuits. Knife, my griddle pan, sauce, condiments, squash etc. Pack of cards, our pillows, towels, tea towels, dish cloths, washing up liquid, anti bac spray, if it's colder we take a couple of throws for the evening.
Agree a spray mop would be useful as I also hate sticky floors- tend to provide a brush and string mop/bucket but quick clean is better.
I am an overpacker but use all of the above, visit caravans at least twice a year

Tereseta · 31/03/2024 19:40

We normally do a shop on the way as well, the onsite shop is normally more expensive.

AgentProvocateur · 31/03/2024 19:42

Everything. You need to pack everything that you’d use in your kitchen/ bathroom/ laundry room in at typical we.

Gingerlygreen · 31/03/2024 19:44

Depends who you're hiring it from, if it's a chain such as Haven then you'll need everything, if you've booked through a private owner it's a lot more likely that all the cleaning products, towels and linen will be provided.

Thanks everyone! Loads of helpful stuff here.
