Lyrics to Danse Macabre

I'm watching Jonathan creek for the first time and I saw the theame tune is a reworked version of Danse Macabre. Whenever I hear it I can hear lyrics - something like poor little something but I fear I have imagined it.
When I Google more modern songs come up but in my head it's something I heard in the eighties.
Am I making it up?

Wikipedia tells me that the original music had lyrics, but they were in French.

Thank you, I was wondering if I heard the French version which is why I'm sketchy on the lyrics but I wasn't around in the 1800's !

I used to love Jonathan Creek. No help at all I know. First few with Caroline Quentin are the best I think.
