Can I put baguette slices in the toaster?

There seems to be no obvious reason why not, yet Google all says I should put the bread in the oven

Issue is my oven is temperamental and I'm trying to impress a date with bruschetta. Can I/should I do this?

As long as you slice them to fit then go ahead, I'm always testing my toaster with excessive sourdough slices, baguette should be easy. Not the entire baguette though obvs.

Millions of French people have pre-tested that every morning for decades: you can safely go ahead @Ana25 👌😀

Oh @friggingno I didn't realize 😂

It was just recipe after recipe saying hse to be oven and I kept thinking why, how am I going to ruin the bread by doing this

Yes you can, but the toaster won't achieve the same texture as bruschetta usually has. The oven baking dehydrates the bread so makes the slices crisper throughout, whereas the toaster will crisp the outsides but leave the insides more doughy.

But the most delicious part of bruschetta is the topping anyway, so if you chuck lashings of super tasty yumminess on top of your toast I am sure you will impress your date!

@LauderSyme my date is a much better chef than me, so I imagine he might protest if he sees me heading for the toaster.

He'll eat it and like it 😂 good to know though...
