Please can you help me write a condolences card?

Hello, I would really appreciate some help from anyone who may have some experience of this situation. My child's paternal grandmother has died. Difficult relationship as my child has been completely rejected by their father who was unhappy at any relationship continuing with his family and therefore quite a distant relationship with these grandparents. We visited shortly before the death at the grandparents request.

I have drafted and thrown away a few attempts as I can't quite get my wording right to her husband and daughter.

Thank you to anyone who can advise.

Dear David,
I was very sorry to hear about the loss of Jennifer. I know that due to circumstances we have not seen you often, but Annabelle enjoyed her visit with you both recently, especially when Granny Jennifer read her a bedtime story.
With best wishes

I'm sorry for your loss and we are thinking of you and your family at this very sad time.

Don't over think it. They are very unlikely to really be taking much notice of what you write anyway.
