Will My 600 Pound Life be cancelled by Ozempic?

Just musing really. Watching this programme about extremely overweight Americans getting bariatric surgery to lose weight. The surgery is so invasive, would people like this be suitable for weight loss injections?

Surely a cheaper, less risky solution where usual dieting support has failed.

Can injections realistically replace surgery?

I feel like the people on My 600lb Life get their surgery paid for though as their appearance deal for the show? And they get all the after care etc too. Some of them definitely would be considered pretty poor. They wouldn’t have money for the health insurance to fund their own weight loss medications.

I mean one of the risks of taking Ozempic is thyroid cancer, so not sure it's less risky than surgery.

No, Ozempic would barely make a difference to someone with that much to lose.

I guess in the future it might stop people getting to that weight as they will start the injections once they reach a certain weight. Although i guess it depends on whether they have insurance and if they can get them on it or afford to buy them.
