Day out from Edinburgh

Anyone familiar with area around Edinburgh. We are on holiday in Livingston and fancy a day out today.

we like naice towns, independent shops, nice views. We are making a full day of it and won’t be back until 8pm tonight.

Was thinking East Lothian way, North Berwick and Gullane or head to St Andrews and stop at Aberdour on the way and Crail on way back?

I'd go to st Andrews :)

Both sound like good options, North Berwick is probably the nicest town for a day trip out of those, if you have a car I would recommend Jupiter Artland (if it’s open yet) while in Livingston area

If it's a nice day, St Andrews then back via Anstruther/Crail/Elie. That would be a bit crap if it's cold/raining though.
