4 year old has had a crazy high fever, hitting 40 multiple times over the last 4 days. Calpol nurofen together somewhat helping but not enough and not for long. He's just lying around, barely eating, red hot to touch and crying most of the time, he does perk up somewhat in the days but definitely not to a normal level. It was scaring me last night in his sleep how hot he was to touch and he kept waking up crying. I assumed it must be viral so hadn't done anything, he's not long finished a 10 day course of antibiotics for strep before this started. I need to phone out of hours in the hospital now right? I'm worried he's going to start fitting with how hot he is

Yes. They'll likely say take him in so chuck favourite toy and a phone charger in a bag.

Dya think it may be the strep recurring?
Every time i have had it , it returns a few days after finishing antibiotics. There have been times i have needed 2 or 3 courses to clear the infection.
Definitely get him seen too. Hope he gets well soon 🤞
