Hi, can someone explain to me what is working tax credits? And tax credits? Are they the exact same payment or 2 different things? I had my first baby a few months ago and receiving universal credit , I'm currently on maternity leave from my job where I worked 37 hours, I get roughly £570 a month, split into 2 payments , one every 2 weeks, (as well as my statutory maternity pay) when I return to work my hours won't change , I believe you need to work at least 16 hours to qualify for working tax credits? So saying I'll be working 37 hours do I still get payment off them? Will it more? Less? Than the £570 im getting now?

Sorry if I sound seriously dumb. Im genuinely confused. Someone fill me in

If you are on Universal Credit you cannot get Working Tax Credits- it's an old legacy benefit that's being phased out so current WTC recipients are being moved over to Universal Credit. Just make sure you report changes in your UC journal and they will pay you what top ups you're entitled to.

Tax credits are the old system that has now been replaced by universal credit. Some people still get tax credits for now but are being transitioned over to universal.
Are you getting child benefit ok?
Try the website entitledto and use the calculator to make sure you are receiving what you should.
Congrats on your new baby!

From what i understand, everyone will be moving to universal credit if currently on tax credits so don't worry about it.
