Anyone else feel a bit sick at the thought of all those fingers poking about at the food, or is it just me?

They repulse me.

Me too… that are awful!

I don't really care about germs, but even I wouldn't want to eat from one.

I think they look lovely, but now that I think of it, I don’t think I’d like to eat from one at a wedding or event, but a friends do yes. I have coeliacs though, so they’re off the menu for me!

Like a buffet but with all the food chucked on the table and touching each other.

I suppose you are meant to use a utensil to remove the food, but in reality it's all fingers or worse used forks 🤑from going round a second time, eurgh!!

Absolutely agree, they’re horrid. Warm, sloppy and touched by everyone

Stickinthemuddle · 28/03/2024 20:02

Yeah they really gross me out. Only time I’ve encountered one I went for bread rolls and cake, sort of dry stuff.

This is what they look like although I’ve only seen on social media not IRL.
I don’t like the idea of them for a group but I quite fancy making a mini one for myself 😋

It's really rubbish if you're coeliac, you can't eat anything

Report
angstridden2 · 28/03/2024 20:07

They’re like trifles, first couple of servings look great then it all collapses into an unappetising mess.

Cheshireflamingo · 28/03/2024 20:09

Revolting. Must be a nightmare for anyone with allergies. And impossible to save any leftovers as everything will have just got mixed up by the end.

EsmaCannonball · 28/03/2024 20:19

So it's a squished botulism buffet? No thanks.

Report
Questionableorange294 · 28/03/2024 20:22

And that's the kind of picky stuff I eat in front of the TV. I wouldn't want it at an event.

Report
Stickinthemuddle · 28/03/2024 20:24

I don’t eat meat so that’s my excuse but I’ve seen meat free ones I’m also not keen on. I guess I’d share one with my husband fine- but the one I saw was huge at a party with like 90 ppl!

I think they are meant to save on the washing up.

Yep, bleugh. Not only the fingers but I don’t like the thought of eg strawberry juice getting on the crackers. I’ve never encountered one IRL only on SM (so far)

But then someone's got to clean the toilets ........

Yes I agree but they do start off looking fab but end up looking like the aftermath of a Roman orgy
