Apple Watch - how do I close my MOVE ring?

I think I’ve worked out what the different rings represent and I’ve been managing to close both my exercise and stand rings but not the move ring. Any advice?

I adjusted the goal down to 500 to make it far more achievable. I know this is sort of cheating, but I don’t care!

Is the move ring based on additional calories you burn compared to if you just sat on your bum doing nothing?

12gum · 27/03/2024 19:18

For me I do a 20 minute walk in the evening and the rest of the calories come from my day at work. My move ring is set at 800 cals. What’s yours at currently?

Kangarude · 27/03/2024 19:22

The move ring is calories burned through exercise. You can set your own goal.
800 is quite high

Kangarude · 27/03/2024 19:23

You get maximum points through the rings doubling/trebling

JustBeach · 27/03/2024 19:35

It's active calories burnt, so above what it burnt at rest.

Move = This is active calories, basically anything that spikes your heart rate (it doesn't have to be exercise), Exercise is the easiest way to close it but things like housework, walking up the stairs, walking to your train platform, ect can all help close it.

Exercise = Does what it says on the tin, its the exercise tracker

Stand = You earn these when you stand up for more than a minute in the hour. It's Apple's way of trying to encourage you to move about throughout the day

Your monthly challenges are based off how much you do so if you set your move/stand and exercise goals too high you might end up with unrealistic challenges (depends if you care about the challenges or not)

that explains it, I must have previously set my move goal at 1200 so just lowered it now

exercise minutes set at 90 which is fine because I have an active job and also jog

Stand goal is 12 hours
