I had an interview for the dream job earlier and don’t think I got the job!

Feel really embarrassed to tell anyone in real life (I didn’t even tell DP about the interview!)

Solidarity here. I am waiting to hear from a job I really want. I don't think I'm going to be successful. And the wait is crucifying. I have told everyone too, so to not get it will be a double smack in the face!

I've an interview in a couple of weeks and desperately want the role and away from where I currently work but keeping it all very quiet.

Agh I am right there with you, had my second round interview over two weeks ago for my absolute dream job and have been told I won't get an update for another week. I was told how many applicants there were for the role so I'm very chuffed to have got this far but will be gutted to wait this long only to be told no.

Good luck. HR depts seem to move at a glacial pace post-covid, and throw Easter into the mix you probably won't get an answer until the kids go back to school.

Oh, best of luck, the wait is awful but you never know. I had an interview yesterday also for dream job but really torn as would mean relocation so lots of mixed feelings, in a way it will be a relief if I don't get it as won't have to uproot the family but also upsetting for me. What I did was write down all the questions afterwards so I remember if there is a next time.

It seemed OK but I wondered if I had a lack of experience in one skill as it's not called for much in my present company. I thought I stood a decent chance but the last week I've been coming up with reasons why I think I might be being "benched" while others are doing the third round. It's really frustrating that it's going so slowly, I applied for the job nearly two months ago! Is everyone else frantically refreshing their email inboxes?!

@longonee it felt good but then I lack experience in one particular aspect of the job so I imagine there will be better suited candidates. I should hear by the end of the week if I've ben short listed. Good luck

Hi again! I haven't heard anything back but just saw the job re advertised, gutted. I will ask for feedback once the Easter bank holiday is over but I just find it so annoying when they don't even bother telling you you've been unsuccessful.

Hi again! Have you heard back yet? I emailed asking for feedback and not sure what to make of the response to be honest... They said I could be a good fit but they had a few reservations, which they explained and I agree with, but that they have advertised again to "widen the pool" (I didn't mention I had seen the advert) but that I am "still in the mix" and thanks for my patience while they continue their deliberations and then asked me to let them know if I want to withdraw or stay "in contest". I am not sure how to respond to be honest... I am clearly a back up in case they don't find anyone they like better yet not good enough to just be shortlisted straight away. Makes me wonder if they had many applicants and what they are hoping to get from re advertising. Is this a red flag?

@Ioverslept not sure what to suggest, that's rough they have re-advertised without updating you!
I have no idea why they are taking so long with mine. I'm at the point where I'd rather hear it's a no as it's very distracting from doing my job properly - it's been 2 months since I put my application in! 😧

@MrsJamin maybe you can contact them to ask for an update? I gave a brief polite reply saying I still want to be considered to keep the door open as there is always time to withdraw or not accept the offer if it does eventually materialise although I am feeling less enthusiastic after what's happened. I hope they get back t you but if it was me I think I'd contact them as I could not cope with the uncertainty. Good luck!

I didn’t get the job either but weirdly enough I feel okay with it. The job holder seemed a bit scatty and they messed up my interview feedback (sent me someone else’s, then missed out some questions) so it seems like a blessing in disguise. But I am a bit sad about staying in my current job for longer. Thanks everyone for being there and have my fingers crossed for those waiting to hear back.

for those of us who were unsuccessful, I think it just wasn’t the right opportunity for us but maybe we can keep this thread going to motivate us to keep applying!

Still waiting! It's past the date we were told we'd get an Update (all candidates) and on their job application portal it's still showing as in progress. Baffling and I feel like I can't ask again for an update. Over a month since the interview now.

Sorry that you have to stay in the job you don't want @longonee but as you say the right opportunity has not arrived yet. Fingers crossed. Good luck @MrsJamin thay is not on, I hope they have a good reason. I think it is so hard to find a good employer, and many are so clumsy over their recruitment practices.

I have no idea. It feels like I'm being ghosted!
