If you really need a wee and sneeze

Is it normal to leak a tiny bit? I thought I had good pelvic floors but maybe not…

Before kids, no. Now occasionally, but I tend to make sure I go before I get as desperate as I'd previously risk, to prevent this problem.

WeeOrcadian · 27/03/2024 16:40

Yep

Shit pelvic floor + hayfever = hell sometimes

skippy67 · 27/03/2024 16:42

Nope. I guess I've just been lucky because I've never leaked. I guess my time will come though...

cordeliachaseatemyhandbag · 27/03/2024 16:43

No.

Do your pelvic floor exercises 3 times a day for 3 months and you will notice the difference

inneedofaglowup · 27/03/2024 16:44

What are pelvic floor exercises. I need to do them too

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/03/2024 16:47

Fairly normal when you’re getting on a bit!

But I also had the same when a lot younger, after a nasty bout of flu. So much coughing had weakened the muscles - for some time afterwards I’d leak and fart at the same time!

RollOnSpringDays · 27/03/2024 16:48

Eventually you will sneeze and leak even if you didn’t need a wee in the first place.

Ok, you are the person I need... I thought I had a decentish pelvic floor, no real issues hitherto, but about a month ago I got a ridiculous violent cough and just started uncontrollably wetting my pants when I cough. The cough has lessened mostly, but the pelvic floor is still shot, is this likely to reverse itself in your experience, or am I doomed?!

Yup this happens. Also if you laugh too hard .... or jump ..... or cough.
Getting older sucks.

Just a regular 'day in the life of a 60 year old post-menopausal man-sneezer' 🤣

Laiste · 27/03/2024 18:35

I've had 4 kids and so yes, for me it's normal UNLESS i get enough warning of the sneeze to sort of brace myself and then it's ok.

I had a bad cough a few months ago and that was a bloody nightmare though.

Elebag · 27/03/2024 18:39

No. Do your pelvic floor exercises.

Hibernatalie · 27/03/2024 18:58

I instinctively cross my legs when I sneeze

mitogoshi · 27/03/2024 19:06

Yes, also exercise classes, mosh pit style dancing, laughter ... the pleasures of aging!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 27/03/2024 19:08

I can do any two of these three things at the same time, sneeze, hold a full bladder, do awkward gym stuff (like deep squats or lunges). I can't do all three. So when it's hay fever season I need to do a wee before I go to the gym. I'm nearly 60, post menopausal and have never given birth.

Mine did improve a lot but IIRC it took a while. 🤞yours will too.
