Easter Buffet Ideas

Hi everyone, we've got about 20 family coming over on Saturday for an Easter buffet. Lunch time ish into the evening. Mainly adults.

We don't have loads of prep time (🤦🏼‍♀️) what would you do?

There's not room for a sit down meal so it will be help yourselves then chill in the living room or at the dining table.

So far I'm thinking different breads / baguette / olives / dips.

Maybe jacket potatoes? Cheese and meats.

Anything else that's gone down well for people? I feel like we need something hot...

I'm doing greek. Hummus, olives, whipped feta dip, pitta etc and then a moussaka and a veggie moussaka with greek salad. I'm cooking the moussakas tomorrow to free up time at the weekend, and it can be eaten from a bowl with a fork for plate balancing on the sofa as we don't have enough chairs!

Pork pies
Quiche
Coleslaw
Crisps/dips
Cheese (& crackers)
Pickled onions
Salad
Pizza
Donuts/cupcakes

As it's Easter can you do cold lamb slices? Cook however much meat you need the day before. Then do some cold vegetables and breads alongside. A few different pickles and chutneys, cheeses etc.

I like the Greek theme! We are doing roast lamb Sunday but something we can do the day before is a good shout actually...

I’m doing the same so just here for the ideas! The issue I have is we have coeliac, general gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian (or a combination of the above) people coming! 😖

RoseTintedFlute · 27/03/2024 16:07

Same on vegetarian and one vegan....

Omg that sounds amazing!!

@idontlikealdi can you assemble a moussaka today and cook it Saturday or are you cooking today and reheat it? I'm copying you 😂 but wondering about the potatoes going brown...

How about a hot gammon ham that can be sliced and put in baguettes?

Warm new potatoes with mint and chive dressing?

Side of salmon? Sainsburys have them on offer at the moment.

idontlikealdi · 28/03/2024 14:19

@RoseTintedFlute cooking today and reheating, its's better reheated. Cook with foil first time round and reheat uncovered. The potatoes will be fine as covered by the bechemal. Just make sure your sauce isn't too wet so it holds together.

Thanks @idontlikealdi !!
