Just that really, so many Mumsnetters are working from home, it makes me wonder what job you do? I assume they are all fairly well paid rather than minimum wage jobs or am I wrong?

I have my own business now into third year. Fully WFH.

MinnieMountain · 03/04/2024 06:43

I do technical legal support at a conveyancing factory. I’m a solicitor. We’re technically hybrid but one of my teammates rarely does her 1 day a week in the office. My salary is £43,500 FTE.

Smellykelly85 · 03/04/2024 07:16

First contact podiatrist in primary care. Seeing patients with foot problems instead of the GP. Salary 45k

Kathryn1983 · 03/04/2024 09:08

I work in a global function for a large company so essentially my networks and connections are not based in my local area and thus meetings are via teams and such
I do have to go to the office 2/3 days a week but it's literally pointless when I do and a bit annoying 🤣 full wfh would work better for this role

Covetthee · 03/04/2024 09:16

I’m a business development manager working in data and analytics. Hybrid/flexible 1 day in office mandatory but other than that pretty relaxed.

earn £42K.

the only good thing that came out of Covid is the ability for flexible working.

kcchiefette · 03/04/2024 10:23

I'm a client relationship manager and I WFH 3 days out of 5.

Its not the worst pay, not the best. I get 36k a year but it can range usually from 30k-45k or so depending on location and experience.

Andreaaaa · 03/04/2024 10:24

I WFH as an auditor, minimum wage, but I no longer need to rely on other people for childcare as my youngest isn’t suitable for flying start just yet. I love my job!

rustlerwaiter · 03/04/2024 11:19

Product designer. Like many others I've been working from home for four years now. I recently changed jobs to a company a little bit further away and I had to really think about whether I wanted to add an extra half an hour to my journey in visiting the office once a week. Even though it was such a short time ago it feels like forever ago I'd spend three hours a day commuting.

LeedsMum87 · 03/04/2024 12:31

I’m a buyer. I work 4 days, 3 days work from home and 1 in the office.
37k for 34 hours plus 10% bonus.

I would love to do this - what do I need to qualify.?

Just a bit of common sense and realise that it’s not like cleaning your own home! Oh and that people are absolutely f*king filthy. Last week I had a bloke poop the bed didn’t strip it or anything and it had gone right through the mattress protector. But I love it it’s all I’ve done for around 8 years and been at my current b&b for almost 4 years and get £15 p/h. I’m not one that could sit in an office and had dealing with the public face to face. Great for school hours aswell (my partner does 11-12 hour shifts) so I can always drop them and be done for when they finish. Qualification wise you don’t need anything!

TwirlyWhirlie · 03/04/2024 14:24

Project Manager- £43k. 35 hours, public sector.

Beccatron1986 · 03/04/2024 15:17

Where do people find decent wfh jobs?! I really would love to start but I’ve worked in admin for 20 years, no special skills. I feel like I don’t know anything decent to allow me to get a new job, nevermind one with wfh flexibility 🥲

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/04/2024 16:09

@Beccatron1986 I searched indeed and other sites using quite specific parameters. I wanted work from home but I only searched with a reasonable distance from home because even wfh, most want to know that you can travel to the office even if it’s only a few days a year. I do 1 day per week in the office which is a 30 minute drive away, plus I travel up to 1 hour to any of our hospices (I am a data officer and deliver training). I actually left my previous job and searched full time, it was incredibly time consuming and soul destroying at times and I got a lot of rejections. If I was searching again, I’d do what was suggested above and maybe find the companies on indeed then go direct to them to apply. I did some temping through an agency and they got me loads of pre-interview chats and potential
interviews but they weren’t what I was looking for really. It helps to temp though as they then recommend you and have references from the places you work for them. It took me three months of temping and job hunting to find my role.

I think a lot of jobs that weren't WFH are now. Most people on this thread probably haven't WFH for the majority of their career and it's been a recent change since covid.

Interpreting was always face-to-face, then as technology allowed, there developed some online capability in specific circumstances. Then covid hit and suddenly everyone moved to online interpreting. Now that everything has opened up, face-to-face interpreting is back but the online option has really taken off and stuck around. Some interpreters solely work online now from home, with a lot doing a hybrid of both.

EliosBackPack · 03/04/2024 16:37

Parish Clerk for 2 small rural parish councils. 30 hours/month for each.
Almost totally flexible, done it for around 12 years.
Get paid around £18/hour, plus monthly fee for utility costs and any expenses.
Love it.

Thirstysue · 01/04/2024 20:57

46 and just retrained to be a therapist for NHS Talking Therapies. We offer face to face sessions but most patients want remote so I am 90% WFH, and I love it, much better quality of life. Moneys 28k, so disproportionate with the level of risk I deal with, but I hardly have to deal with idiots in an office and I manage my own diary- to me, that's worth 10k a year!

H @thirstysue This would really interest me … could you tell me what qualifications you need and how you got the role please.

Soigneur · 03/04/2024 16:47

Lead developer for a tech company. None of my team, or customers, are in the UK. So it would be pretty pointless going to an office (if we had one).

Whoknew76 · 03/04/2024 16:49

pinkwaterbottle9 · 02/04/2024 10:20

NHS as of yesterday, min wage

@pinkwaterbottle9 - can I ask what your role is and how you got the job please

KittyDisney · 03/04/2024 17:52

HR - full time wfh, go into the office now and then.

Indeed or LinkedIn would be your best starting points

Linkedin and try to sign up with a reputable recruiter, one that specialises in a particular industry.

most jobs that are office based are hybrid/remote these days, so you can even find admin stuff.

Sheeples · 03/04/2024 23:34

I’m a doctor, work almost entirely from home now doing remote consultations and some management work. Would only travel for meetings/educational events

Justanotherusernameagain · 04/04/2024 17:13

Customer Success Manager for an EdTech company, fairly well paid at just under 40k, fixed hours full time but great flexibility for appointments etc. I love it
