Bubble sitter app owners are cheeky fuckers exploiting the sitters

I'm fuming.

Been using them for years and always made a point to stay on the app and pay the fees as I appreciate how easy they made it for me to find sits.

But today they anounced that sitters will have to pay a 25% fees (or 20% for super sitters) for every 1st sit?

Cheeky greey fuckers!

Knowing that most sits through the app are a one time thing. And Bubble managed to get most of the bbsitting jobs going through them. And I pay taxes on what I earn on Bubble.

I hope it ends up making them lose a lot of money. I sure as hell won't use them again. They can get stuffed to get any fees on my regular families, we're going off the app.

I'm fuming.

They've decided a business plan

you are within your rights to agree or not to, as you've decided.

Thanks for your conpassion, I like my journey into extreme poverty with a bit of condescension

I have had sit every day with them for years and always refused to go off the app, even if I lost jobs.

Now that they have given parents a way to get childcare for a lower rate (sometimes below minimum wage because self employed is exempt) without paying pension, paid holidays or anything, there are barely any way to get a job through other websites or apps. Agencies are dried.

So yeay, thanks Bubble for having a business plan that makes sure nannies can't make a living and have to pay you 25% pf what they earn! What can go wrong long term!

Of course they are taking fees on the next sits 🙄

6%.

Bit most sits are one off

If you've got regular families you sit for, then why are you giving Bubble commission anyway? Just contact them directly

secondly you won't be paying the high % for a first sit as you have already sat for those families

thirdly if you want to become a nanny properly, then get the qualifications and charge accordingly, privately

I am a qualified nanny, thanks very much...

  1. I had a job but I like to keep it part time and have extra self employed jobs as I am a human being and I can't do 50/60 hours a week.

  2. I am looking for a new job but since parents now just get sitters every day for £9 an hour without paying taxes or paid holidays, there is no more fucking jobs to get outside of Bubble. Nothing in the agencies. Nothing on Childcare.co.uk. Nothing. Ask all the nannies looking at the moment.

Damn, I took few years break from Mumsnet, I forgot some peolle just use it to try to make people feel like shit...

  1. We would all like the luxury of "keeping it part time" 🙄
  2. I'm sorry you're struggling to find a job. Perhaps it is your current location? Where I am families are fighting over (full time, employed, contracted, paying NI/PAYE etc) Nannies and can't find enough to go around.

I'm not saying move. I'm just pointing out that your vitriol over the app Changing its t&cs is misplaced

Bloody hell op. Aggressive much?! And you look after children?!

Yessiryessirthreebagsfull · 26/03/2024 13:35

Btw, that's exactly why families end up fighting for (full time nannies) nannies. Because nannies get fucking tired of people not respecting their job, their work conditions getting worst and worst, people give them attitude when they try to speak up.

So most nannies go part time or change career.

Wait a few years and see the fall down of parents not giving a fuck about nannies and Bubble doing them dirty because it is advantageous for them for now.

But it's ok, I'm sure nursery places will magically appear...

Look elsewhere to advertise your services?!

Allofaflutter · 26/03/2024 13:37

I can totally get your frustration. It’s mad that they can take that much from you. Maybe you and your nanny friends you have could start a babysitting/ nanny club and advertise it on your local fb. Cut bubble out completely.

Yes, and I am a loving patient and very good nanny.

But you just try being condescending to teachers, TFL enlloyees, or farmers like ypu all are tp nannies when they try to explain why their careers are being fucked up by a conpany and see how well they react.

Nannies always have to just suck it up,stop complainingand "be happy they are paid to play with legos all day".

Luckycloverz · 26/03/2024 13:39

I've used Bubble several times, 2 of the sitters we really liked and asked for their direct personal contact info to arrange future services. They're happy with this so are we, have you never been asked for your info from a family using you via Bubble?
I dont understand your issue, is it that you're not getting enough jobs outside of the Bubble app?

GoingRoundInOvals · 26/03/2024 13:41

Excuse me. I am extremely considerate of Nannies, and pay well, because they are looking after my child at the end of the day.

Just because your area is clearly too reliant on this stupid app (which incidentally I had never even heard of before your thread) doesn't mean the rest of us don't take the time and care to research, interview, agree terms, arrange contracts and provide over and above a great working environment for our nannies. We consider ours to be part of the family and love her immensely.

I would suggest your temper and attitude needs adjusting

Yessiryessirthreebagsfull · 26/03/2024 13:43

@GoingRoundInOvals my temper and attitude are just fine.

Not on this thread they aren’t

SuperDuperJezebel · 26/03/2024 13:45

I get it, I do a lot of ad hoc work on bubble - I seem to be doing a fair bit of one off sits for families who need just a sitter for their baby during their wedding or something... Working a full day and paying a quarter of that to Bubble each time really sticks in my throat. I recommend them quite a lot but won't be anymore.

ButterflyKu · 26/03/2024 13:46

You’re being really rude to people for no clear reason. I’d recommend still using the app and forming relationships with families that way so they can contact you directly. It seems like you’ve had this opportunity before but have decided to stay on the app so I’m sure the opportunity will present itself again?

AnotherDelphinium · 26/03/2024 13:48

Firstly, your language is shocking. I’d also be concerned about how you’d react to a misbehaving young adult if you can’t keep your cool on an internet forum.

Secondly, I imagine @Luckycloverz has summed up exactly why they’ve changed the T&Cs. Bubble (who I’d also not heard of) are fed up with getting 6% commission on one sit, and then nothing whatsoever going forwards as everyone is now in direct communication.

Perhaps an email to Bubble pointing out the amount of commission you’ve paid over the years would be more persuasive in them amending the T&C along the lines of “if you’ve done x sits in a six month period, the 25% initial commission will be waived to 6%.

SuperDuperJezebel · 26/03/2024 13:48

When you sign the T&C's you agree to not take clients and arrange work off bubble, I'm sure people do but when I always liked was that you were insured with bubble and it was all done through an app with guaranteed payment the next day. It also has the market cornered where I live and makes things very easy. I'm going to focus on looking elsewhere now I think.

HullaBallu · 26/03/2024 13:50

So much for a spoonful of fucking sugar to help the fucking bastard medicine go down.

theeyeofdoe · 26/03/2024 13:52

If you’re nannying regularly for someone they need to employ you.

For One off sits, just add an extra charge for first time parents.

Yessiryessirthreebagsfull · 26/03/2024 13:56

@AnotherDelphinium Accusing me of potentially being abusive to children is way out of order.

You are all ignoring the fact that Bubble ensured that it had the monopoly of childcare in London then drops a 25% fee on first sits (the majority). As I said, there are barely any jobs left to get any other way than going through Bubble.

If farmed complained that ONE conpany had the monopoly of selling their product, lowered their salary through a legal loop then hit them with a 25% fee, no one would tell them "tough luck". But when it is nannies, then who cares, right. How does she even dare being angry or horrified that her livelihood is threatened.

If you’re nannying regularly for someone they need to employ you.

For One off sits, just add an extra charge for first time parents.

That is what people don't get. Less and less parents hire nannies because Bubble use a loop in the law. Parents just get a diffferent nanny every day through the app, they don't have to pay taxes, paid holidays, pension. They also can pay under the minimum wage because self employed don't have a minimum wage.

So there is less and less nanny jobs, all the sits go through Bubble, there is barely any jobs in agencies and other websites.

Then you're hit with a 20% or 25% fee because people don't hire the same nannies or they would have to employ them.
