Apologies to any posters who have received an @ mention from me on a thread from over a year ago!! How does this happen?

You don't check the date of the OP.

Really not difficult to understand.

Yes you’re right, I don’t. I’m just curious why threads from a year ago are popping up.

Are you going into similar threads when you scroll down?

Ladyluckinred · 25/03/2024 22:49

It’s strange, I posted on one about rice looking like worms yesterday and then drinking at a babies party. They’ve just appeared on active.

Before you comment, check the date? It's not difficult

Thanks Luvvy. PP above suggested the same, thanks for reiterating.

The one about the rice worms was restarted by a troll, so the thread appeared in active. The troll posts (I reported) have been removed, but it was still attracting new posts for some time because it was in active for a while.

Thank you @MyMotherMyDogAndClowns!!! I appreciate you explaining this. I thought I was going mad!

I’m glad there’s an explanation for at least one of the occurrences 😁

I nearly do when they're resurrected, but usually clock the dates first.

ShowOfHands · 25/03/2024 23:07

If my internet connection blips out as Active Conversations loads, I get a cached version which looks exactly like normal Active Conversations but everything is at least a year old.

TimeToCallItANight · 25/03/2024 23:09

If you’re finding them in active, then presumably someone else has resurrected them before you. That’s happened to me previously as I don’t check the date.

OutOfTheHouse · 25/03/2024 23:10

I find it’s when you scroll down after the reply box and there are threads that are years old.

What is annoying is that for the few people who post they get notification that it’s a zombie. It really should say something like ‘the first post in this thread is over a year old’ or something.

ChanelNo19EDT · 25/03/2024 23:10

If people get angry with you for posting on old threads, maybe they're living on a knife edge. Most people don't care.

Oh I didn’t say anyone was angry.. perhaps just a little confused?

Good idea! I just assume all the threads in active are recent. Thought the worm one was an anomaly, but then just did it again lol.
