why is a pipe big enough to do this in a swimming pool not properly covered.

I just…I honestly have no words

The girl died after being sucked into a malfunctioning pipe at the DoubleTree by Hilton Houston Brookhollow. It took rescuers 13 hours to retrieve her body.

Awful. The stuff of nightmares. I’m pretty sure drowning is the top cause of death in young children in the US

Oh that poor wee mite. Though I'd be sadly confident that vehicular accidents kill a lot more young children than drowning, even in the US.
