Itchy tummy driving me mad

I've got a very itchy lower tummy on the left hand side. It's been driving me mad for a week or so and I just can't stop scratching. I think it might be the very annoying label in my underwear. Also I have lots of stretch marks there and it's just so uncomfortable. Any ideas what it could be and before I go off and Google to worry myself silly about obscure medical symptoms?

I'm close to making a GP appointment for this but don't want to waste their time.

It might be an allergy

Yes it might be but it's just on one side of my large and wobbly lower tummy. It's strange as just the one side and not all over. Would an allergy not be all over rather than just one specific area?

Make sure you keep your skin moisturised, that will help with the itching.

It could be scabies.
We all caught it in our house after my son stayed in a hostel.
look out for little red dots in the webbing between your fingers.
The bit that itched the most for me was around the belt line on my jeans.

I was going to add there is a bit of an epidemic of it at the moment.
