Is cheese good for you?

My B12 levels are low so I have been trying to eat a bit more meat and dairy as I don’t eat much of either and they are good sources of the vitamin.

I have been adding cheese to things to help but now I’m reading that cheese is full of salt and saturated fat and you shouldn’t have it if you have high blood pressure which I do.

I was reading the thread on Princess Kate and what foods you should eat to prevent cancer and serious illness and I am even more confused!

All things in moderation surely

Blackcats7 · 25/03/2024 17:42

Take b12 tablets if you have low levels .
As regards cheese it is a good source of protein and blimmin delicious.
Trying to keep healthy is good but people can take it too far and there is no diet that will prevent cancer. A lot of it is genetic.
I have cancer, melanoma. I have never sunbathed ( hate the heat) or been on a sunbed and I don’t have red hair yet here I am.
Don’t get too caught up in worries.

Yes good points. With so many things, it’s not as simple as good or bad. Tbh I can live without cheese but decided to make a conscious effort to eat it and now I’m not so sure.

Yes, because it is high in protein and other important nutrients. This might be particularly important for vegetarians.

No, because it is high in fat & (usually) salt. This might be particularly important for people who are overweight or have cardiovascular health issues.

For most people cheese, when consumed in moderation, has its place in a healthy balanced diet.

Sorry to hear that @Blackcats7 that is really bad luck if you don’t go in the sun.

As above. Has its good bits and bad bits but in moderation is good. And also...mmm cheese...

Well the French eat a lot of cheese and they are pretty healthy. I think as part of a whole food balanced diet cheese is fine especially if you get the raw milk ones which are great for your microbiome.
