A lovely place in Brighton for 2 hours

I have to go to Brighton this week for two medical appointments- with a long gap in between. I don't know the area at all.
The appointments will not be happy ones and for my own reasons I've chosen to go alone.

Could anyone recommend a lovely cafe/ museum/ shopping area where I can aimlessly spend 2 hours. If the weather is beautiful I will go down to the beach, but I don't want to count on that.

Shopping in The Lanes is fun and lots of places to eat there too.

If near Preston Park, Hooghly Tea is a lovely cafe to chill out in and you could have a browse in the London Road charity shops before/afterwards

Brighton Museum and Art Gallery in Pavilion Gardens is fabulously eclectic and a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours.

The very loveliest place is The Royal Pavillion @babysoupdragon2

There is also a cafe inside and a lovely gift shop.

North Lanes are great - lots to see (and buy) and plenty of cafes. There's a lovely and very relaxing cafe attached to Brighton Dome called Redroaster.
