Is anyone else following this podcast? There have been no new episodes since the 15th March. Does anyone know why?

Court's been out of session for a week, that's what they said in the last episode. I keep checking for new ones but nothing yet.

WellThatEsculatedQuickly · 25/03/2024 17:23

Thanks! I had forgotten about that .

Following this podcast - there has been no report g of this trial in the papers - I wonder why? Has there been restrictions imposed? Possible family influence?

There has been loads of reporting.

However the trial has taken so bloody long that there ended up being massive breaks due to judge, lawyers and jury all having other commitments as it was so far over schedule.

BoudiccaOfSuburbia · 02/05/2024 17:00

The jury are out now….so nothing until they come back with their verdict.

And sub judice while the jury are out so nothing in the Press etc.

ridingfreely · 02/05/2024 17:02

There has been reporting but not as mainstream as you would expect in my opinion

Been following the podcast - wonder how long the jury will take to deliberate

Andthereyougo · 02/05/2024 17:16

There have been lots of podcasts on BBC Sounds since March. Also regular podcasts of the Daily Mail ( I think) on Spotify. Jury’s out and it’s been very long and drawn out, I hope the jury have good memories.

AnnaMagnani · 02/05/2024 17:27

I think the Daily Mail and the BBC running podcasts is about as mainstream as you can get.

ridingfreely · 02/05/2024 18:26

@AnnaMagnani print media isn't covering it to the degree I'd expect

No need to be sarcastic

AnnaMagnani · 02/05/2024 18:33

What degree would you expect?

Literally nothing has happened for weeks in the trial. When stuff was happening it was getting reported on. And yes in mainstream media.

HobnobsChoice · 02/05/2024 18:39

Their trial started back in January and was only initially expected to be 4 weeks. Due to various delays from illness, a fire at the old Bailey and then Marten's never ending questioning and response they over ran their initial slot, the jury only went out this week after Summing up last week. There's been a lot of coverage during the prosecution and defence cases. Her co-accused is Mark Gordon who did not take the stand at all. If you Google their names plus court then you can find all the reporting

ForSereneSwan · 02/05/2024 20:44

We are getting there. I don't envy the jurors - much information to take in and very clear guidelines to follow in terms of deliberations. BBC sounds has been good 2 x week. Though they say nothing much now, as no one knows how long it will take to reach a verdict, I imagine quite a while. Argus was good in keeping things updated, then the Independent took over for a while. I have no idea how this will all pan out. Have been extra interested as I once worked in this field as an 'expert witness' in these kinds of presentations.

I agree, I've seen pretty regular newspaper articles.

@ForSereneSwan I imagine it is especially interesting for you given your expertise in similar fields. Are you happy to share your thoughts on how you feel having heard the evidence and both sides of the case?

ForSereneSwan · 03/05/2024 09:46

From what I have seen and heard, I would be very surprised if the parents are not charged with gross negligence.
