Worried I could be diabetic?

32, non smoker, non drinker but a few stone overweight and diet not great. Moderately active. Could do with doing more exercise. I’m a parent to two disabled children under a lot of stress. I average about 12,000 steps a day in Fitbit just doing day to day things. I would probably need to lose 3 stone to be a healthier weight range, maybe a little more.

recently it was found my son had high cholesterol and it was suggested I had mine checked as it could be genetic. My results come back that my cholesterol is somewhat high. We are going to the lipid clinic in the summer as the waiting lists are huge

had another blood test and urine check today to check my thyroid - it was suggested to check thyroid etc after cholesterol result. Thyroid problems run in my family and last had mine checked 5 years ago Obviously no blood test results yet but my nhs app says dipstick ++ for urine and then sent to lap. Does that mens not glucose is high in my sample? I hadn’t eaten before and my app was early and mornings are stressful with my two kids.

i don’t feel my best right now, I’m always exhausted but I’m sertraline that makes me tired as well as a stressful life style, I lost a stone last year without trying but it’s levelled now. I’m quite often thirsty at the minute I’m always bursting for a wee when I wake up but I don’t tend to go during the night. Occasionally I get a slight blur in my eye but that has previously been linked to TMJD which affects many parts of my body.

I have noticed some blurred vision when I’m hungry and need to eat.

to add.. my diet isn’t the best but not terrible. Don’t have sugary drinks very often, meals could be healthier some days, not into cake or pastries but chocolate is my weakness.

generally healthy as in I rarely get poorly or catch any bugs!

Yes you might have diabetes, but also you might not. You need a blood test for hba1c to decide whether you have diabetes or not, no one here can diagnose you.

You can buy little finger prick test kits in Boots and online. Might be worth it if you're worried. Taking it at different points of the week could help you track levels after various activities e.g. before food one day, after food another day, 2 hours after food, first thing in the morning, after exercise etc
