I have a horrid cold and an injury and my son aged 3 nearly 4 is also sick, though his spirits aren't too affected! We're at home today. For various reasons we are stuck in the house with no garden and run out of ideas! Please help!

So far we've done:

  • play dough
  • baking
  • train set
  • jumping on bed
  • activity book (lasted 2 mins)
  • keepy uppy balloon
  • endless Netflix cartoons
  • endless snacks

ConfusedConfusedConfused

Anything else I can do? He's very boisterous nearly 4, so Instagram perfect mum type tuff-tray activities DO NOT engage him!

Check out five minute mum website, also on insta / FB. Loads of fab easy to setup games/ activities with stuff you always have at home. And can sneak in some easy letters and numbers stealth learning too. Not all sit down activities, I remember playing one with my boisterous boys during lockdown using the washing basket as a target and throwing a ball into it from the stairs, going up one step each time they score til they get to the top step.

Mine used to love a daytime bath. Some splashing to clear up but would kill the best part of an hour.

Could you run a bath with bubbles and lots of plastic cups for pouring and floating. I’ve managed to eek that out to about 1/2hr before.
build a den
Obstacle course - weave in and out cushions - go under and over chairs. Jump/hop five times on the spot etc

Sorry you’re feeling ill - sometimes it is ok to have a pj and tv day if that’s what it takes to get through.

Dance videos on you tube... there's just dance ones to copy for example.
Cosmic Yoga is also good.

Do you have lego or duplo? Building the tallest tower, or other competitions.

Good luck.

Build a den out of cushions?
Lockdown Joe Wicks workout?

80skid · 25/03/2024 13:40

Definitely blanket dens!
Also have a look at Cosmic Kids yoga on YouTube, they have some great active things and also guided calm stories too
I hope you're feeling better soon, sounds like you're doing really well with the home based activities !
