Why do keyboards not have a euro keys

So annoying! If you are in Ireland do you have € keys or do you still have to ctrl + alt + delete? is that why people write 36E for example?

I don't need a $ sign at work but I do need €!

Most also have one on the 4. Think you have to press shift + function + 4 or something.

Nubbled · 25/03/2024 12:07

I have one on my 2 key. €

SevenSeasOfRhye · 25/03/2024 12:08

Mine is option/2 €

LadyGreySpillsTheTea · 25/03/2024 12:09

Even in the Eurozone you don't necessarily get a dedicated € key. I have a German (Mac) keyboard (has all the Umlauts etc) and you still have to press Option E for the €. It just occurs to me I have no idea of the pound sterling shortcut on this keyboard.

idontlikealdi · 25/03/2024 13:08

I have the ctrl alt delete function on the $ but it's annoying, I just want a € key!

OMG! I've had this laptop 4yrs and never noticed it hiding on number 4! 😆

Same here! I don't think I've ever needed the Euro sign, but do use $ occasionally when doing a wildcard search in a particular IT system at work.

RampantIvy · 25/03/2024 13:20

It's Ctrl Alt 4 in my Logitech full sized keyboard.

SageRosemary · 25/03/2024 14:01

It's Option Shift 2 on my Apple keyboard

Where is your " ? I thought that was on the 2 on all keyboards?

The " and @ are inverted on Mac keyboards.

TheTripThatWasnt · 25/03/2024 14:48

So where's the @ then? (if the Euro is on 2).

It's on 2 as well.

Soigneur · 25/03/2024 15:17

It's on the 4 on a standard UK keyboard (which I think Ireland also uses).

magicstar1 · 25/03/2024 15:36

It's on the 4 along with the dollar symbol. Shift and 4 gives dollar, AltGr and 4 gives the Euro. It's as easy as the pound or dollar.

Xiaoxiong · 25/03/2024 15:51

On my laptop it's:

Shift + 3 = £
Shift + 4 = $
AltGr + 4 = €

Yes, it's shift '

RampantIvy · 25/03/2024 18:24

I have just tried it on my laptop, and although it doesn't have the euro symbol on the number 4, it is still Ctrl Alt 4
