What happens if your mortgage offer expires?

Our solicitors seem to be going very slowly with things. If our mortgage expires before we are ready to exchange / complete, what happens? We apply all over again? All the paperwork again? Mortgage broker fee again?

Its all so stressful.

My solicitor managed to agree an extension of 2 weeks (mortgage broker said he applied and they said no) any longer than that and you would probably have to reapply.

You can sometimes get an extension on the offer to buy you some more time, check with your lender if this is an option. If not and it expires then yes you will have to do it all over again to re-apply, bank statements, payslips etc.

That’s what I thought 😢. Guess the solicitor doesn’t really care as they get paid anyway.
