receive a bouquet of flowers or a plant? I intend to get another gift for the baby as well. Please help me out because I am a chronic ditherer 🤷🏼‍♀️

low maintenance plant

Wedontopenyet · 24/03/2024 12:13

Both sound lovely, you sound very kind. Plant means you don't have to find a vase.

DysmalRadius · 24/03/2024 12:13

Neither - both require effort and care just at the point where I have time and headspace for neither!! Chocolate, or something easily edible would always be my go to. 😁

Swoopy · 24/03/2024 12:13

Flowers. I don’t like house plants.

TheSnowyOwl · 24/03/2024 12:14

Buy a thermos instead to keep hot drinks hot instead of endless cups of tea going cold because you are stuck under a baby.

WhateverMate · 24/03/2024 12:15

Neither really but flowers at a push.

Even better if they come with a vase as she'll probably receive a lot.

NuffSaidSam · 24/03/2024 12:17

I wouldn't want either!

Something edible would be ideal (chocolates) or a candle or some nice hand cream or some nice tea.

paristotokyo · 24/03/2024 12:19

Chocolate!

SpringSprungALeak · 24/03/2024 12:19

Personally I'd prefer flowers.

I don't do house plants.

Elsewhere123 · 24/03/2024 12:20

Cake, nourishing fruit cake. If mum is BF she'll be ravenous if like me,

FloralQuestions · 24/03/2024 12:20

Always flowers.
Never plants.

Imitationzone · 24/03/2024 12:21

I had friends buy me plants and fruit. I kept both in the bedroom so I was always looking at green things and had fresh fruit to eat as a snack. I was so grateful for that - I love chocolate but there was too much of it when baby came, so fruit was a welcome change. I also got flowers, they were good too but the plant lasted longer.

GreatGateauxsby · 24/03/2024 12:26

I have just had a baby.

Honestly... neither.
Both need work/things doing to them. Find a vase change the water... find a spot for it 😓

I want "cook" dinners, tasty snacks or baked goods, really good waterbottles and reuseable coffee cups.

EndlesslyDistracted · 24/03/2024 12:29

Neither really but definitely not flowers, we just didn't have space for them with all the cards and baby things. Something edible would be better. But no alcohol. I really only wanted things for the baby at that time TBH and wasn't interested in stuff for me.

All the people saying ' don't send either / I wouldn't be happy with either'

Really though surely you would. You'd think 'how nice of them to send a gift'.

cheddarsandtoast · 24/03/2024 12:31

Flowers 100 percent

fluffycloudalert · 24/03/2024 12:33

Lavender hand cream.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 24/03/2024 12:34

Is neither an option? Take away vouchers or food I could eat with one hand appreciated.

I got 3 plants and 6 bunches of flowers with this baby.

After the first two my geniune thoughts were "thats nice of them but annoying."

By the time I got the last 3 i was like " more fucking flowers! i have no where to put these fuckers. I dont have biscuits for the tea I'm making and the baby is crying. I wish they'd just brought something to eat"

Disclaimer: I love food and am indifferent to flowers

Edited

On my second baby pretty much no one sent anything 😂 I enjoyed all the flowers etc with my first.
I usually send a box of cakes after a baby has been born.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 24/03/2024 12:39

I'd rather have food. Eg a tin of biscuits to offer guests or to fuel the mum. Or ready meals.
If you want a pamper gift for her then nice moisturizer or hand cream as she will be washing her hands so much.

HanaJane · 24/03/2024 12:39

Tbh neither, flowers require a vase to be found/water changed/dead flowers removed and a plant requires finding somewhere to put it & watering. I would have chosen chocolate or easy to grab snacks when I had just had my babies

Countrygirlxo · 24/03/2024 12:40

Plant

Normally yes. But when you are hormonal, tired, struggling to feed and your already small house is being swamped with new stuff it can all get a bit much. I look back and cringe a bit now, obviously I was polite and thanked people but I do remember feeling completely overwhelmed and wishing it would all go away.

BaronessBomburst · 24/03/2024 12:44

If you have to get a plant, get a succulent or something that thrives on neglect.
My vote is for biscuits, cake, or chocolate.
