Stupid vomit question

Ok - I'm aware I sound like an idiot.

I have emetophobia (severe fear of vomiting) but I also have no memory of ever throwing up, for any reason, ever.

I seem to have caught my DD's sickness bug. I felt very very sick last night, had a few moments of "oh god I'm going to be sick right now" but wasn't. Had a bad night's sleep and woke up at 4am and retched/dry heaved a couple of times. And then just now I was retching really badly multiple times but nothing was coming up. Weirdly my stomach felt better after this than it had before even though I wasn't actually sick.

So my stupid question is - am I doing it wrong?? Will it just happen if it needs to? Could I be subconsciously just stopping myself, is that a thing? Can you have a bug even if you just retch but aren't actually vomiting?

I don't think you could stop yourself if you needed to be sick. I'm terrified of being sick too, however I'm pregnant and have recently had a chest infection, I was being sick 10+ times a day despite doing anything I could to stop myself. I think if its gonna happen, it'll happen!

Any time I've been sick, I've been unable to stop or control it. My mouth starts to water and I know along with stomach and sick feelings. There's no possible way you could stop yourself being sick of your body needed to be. It's more likely you're making yourself feel sick because you're panicking. Perhaps that's causing the retching, I'm not sure.

But in answer to your question, if you need to be sick you will not be able to stop it. When I was kid we would have a sick bowl beside us if sick on bed. Perhaps bring a bin or something you could use for peace of mind in case it did happen. Sorry I hope that helps and you're all better soon

I'm rarely sick too, i thunk I've been sick twice in the last 25 years or so , and once was when I was drunk . Never through pregnancy, despite nausea .
