I would automatically disregard anything from Markov’s mouth, he is a professional propagandist

Yes, the fire, people being shot running away, it's a vision of hell. Sadly I think that the death toll will rise above 93.

Shot by terrorists or Russians?

EsmaCannonball · 23/03/2024 13:55

It's not that I believe Markov - the opposite in fact- it's what he is saying and if he is speaking on behalf of some official viewpoint. The Russians are claiming that the men they arrested were heading for Ukraine and implying that is somehow significant. The Ukrainians are rubbishing these claims.

EasternStandard · 23/03/2024 13:59

Terrifying poor people

Just horrendous

Shot by terrorists or Russians?

From my understanding, by the terrorists.

EsmaCannonball · 23/03/2024 17:09

I'm starting to wonder if it is a genuine terrorist attack but if Putin was happy to allow a soft target to be attacked if he could warp it to fit his anti-Ukraine agenda. They seem to have deliberately ignored the intelligence in a very high-handed manner.

Paul2023 · 24/03/2024 21:30

With regard to the theorists captured, I somehow think things won’t end well for them…

Careforcarers · 25/03/2024 09:15

Putin and the Russian press are using this as an excuse to crush Ukraine. Despite Islamic State claiming they did it.
The 4 beaten terrorists don't look/appear obviously Ukrainian.

I'm not convinced that they have the right men.
It seems too quick and convenient.

I thought this too.

I agree. I'd like some information about who these men are and some evidence to link them to the attack, rather than a couple of confessions due to torture. Are they random Tajiks who have been picked up (conveniently, and disastrously for them), or is there something to connect them to the attack? The attack is horrible but these men have been badly tortured.

Something about this really doesn't add up. Have there been Tajik terrorists before? How did they 'catch' the men so quickly? Are there really Tajik terrorist cells in Russia?

Could it be that these men were put up to it/made to do it somehow? Or they didn't do it at all and have been provided by somebody to be arrested? Tajikistan terrorists, sponsored by IS, set up by Ukraine, to conduct a horrific attack in Moscow that the authorities knew nothing about? Really?

I once read something that really stuck with me about Russia and I think it could be applied here: 'nothing is impossible and everything is a lie...'

Bananananananananana · 25/03/2024 21:21

At least one was wearing clothes in the video taken by the terrorists. I sincerely hope these are the right men!

feellikeanalien · 25/03/2024 21:33

I was listening to a programme on Times Radio this afternoon and they were talking about calls in Russia for the restoration of the death penalty for terrorists. Apparently Alexi Navalny's party has been classified as a terrorist organisation. As have campaigners for LGBT rights

Even if Putin is not involved in this he can certainly use it to his advantage.
