Partner gave my Easter egg away-am I being selfish?

I know this isn't important etc but I'm annoyed
So last week I said to him that I was going to Tesco.
Did he want me to get him an Easter egg and he said no.
I said shall I grab one for your niece (she's 13)
He said no it's okay il give her £10
So I didn't grab them any
I got myself a terrys chocolate orange one.
Left it in the kitchen
Get home tonight after work, his niece has been over with his sister -spotted the egg and he gave her it.
I'm a bit pissed off
I doubt Tesco will have any left now
I really fancied it too

That's rather shit but I'd just send him out to buy me a replacement.

WickWood · 22/03/2024 17:48

Tell him to go out and bring you back the same egg.

StopStartStop · 22/03/2024 17:48

Not selfish at all. He gave away something that wasn't his. No respect or care for you whatsoever.

Now what?

Easter isn't for another week?

Prisonbreak · 22/03/2024 17:49

Yeah I’d be annoyed too but he can easily fix it

ThePerfectDog · 22/03/2024 17:49

They had hundreds left at our Tesco yesterday, send him straight out to replace it

blindleadimgtheblind · 22/03/2024 17:49

I'm gonna pop out tomorrow and see if I can find myself another one because he won't.
I hope that's some left in the shops
I know it's not important but you know when you really look forward to something ...

Thankyou

Revelatio · 22/03/2024 17:50

Unless you wanted to eat it tonight, then I wouldn’t be annoyed about it. I’d have probably done the same.

UpsideLeft · 22/03/2024 17:51

All he had to say was I'm sorry but it belongs to @blindleadimgtheblind and silly me but she did ask me if she should get you one but being the twat I am I said no

CaptainMyCaptain · 22/03/2024 17:51

Masses of eggs left in Sainsbury's today.

MrsPeannut · 22/03/2024 17:51

Of course there will be lots left in the shops. Easter is over a week away. Just go and buy another one or send him to buy one if it bothers you that much.

StopStartStop · 22/03/2024 17:52

see if I can find myself another one because he won't.

FFS. If he doesn't care about this, what else does he 'not care' about?

crumblingschools · 22/03/2024 17:53

Why should OP have to go out and buy one, her partner should be rectifying the issue

BCBird · 22/03/2024 17:53

He needs to go, not u. Inconsiderate git

betterangels · 22/03/2024 17:54

Get him to pay for a replacement. He should not give away your chocolate.

Yogatoga1 · 22/03/2024 17:54

Thing is if it was on the side in plain sight and she clocked it I’d have done the same. Bit mean otherwise, especially as they’re easily replaced.

Hermittrismegistus · 22/03/2024 17:55

I'm gonna pop out tomorrow and see if I can find myself another one because he won't

Why wouldn't he replace it? Does he not like you?

DillDanding · 22/03/2024 17:55

I can’t imagine being bothered about an Easter egg. But you obviously are, so he can just replace it?

crumblingschools · 22/03/2024 17:55

Why would an Easter egg in the house be fair game for someone visiting?

Bumblebeeinatree · 22/03/2024 17:56

Make sure he pays for it if it was his niece.

Also depends on how old the niece is as to how much pressure he was under to give it. Small child saying uncle is that my egg.

Singleandproud · 22/03/2024 17:57

At Primary School age, I'd have said fair enough that he gave it to the niece if she saw it, and obviously he should have replaced it straight away. But at 13 he should have told her it was yours as give her the tenner he was intending to.

It's trivial on the surface but I'd be keeping a sharp eye on his general behaviour and appreciation/respect for you.

OrigamiOwls · 22/03/2024 18:00

If he can't be bothered to sort it a replacement it does show how exactly he regards you.

He won't?

That would really piss me off.

I would appropriate an egg from DH and he would from me for an emergency gift - but then it would be replaced.

I think it is a very bad sign he won't replace for you.
