Knee replacement - nerves

Don't know why I'm posting really. I suppose just to see if anyone else is waiting for a knee replacement soon? I've been given my date for my 2nd knee replacement, just over a month away. After my first, which was mostly successful, I am honestly shitting bricks. I've had tonnes of ops and knowing what I do now, having gone through it already, I am not looking forward to the recovery!

When you say it’s your second, is that the second on the same knee or is this op on the knee that wasn’t replaced last time?

If it’s a revision to a previous replacement, may I ask how long ago the initial op was? My PKR was 10 years ago and I was expecting to get 12 - 15 years out of it, but I’m in so much pain that I think it might need doing again.

No this is my left knee. I had my right done 2 years ago. The surgeon I saw today said that they last 15+ years now. But my cap on the one that was replaced is essentially loose. Not a problem as such at the moment, just a bit clicky. But it might mean I have to have a revision a bit sooner. I'd definitely go and get an opinion. The waits at the moment are astronomical, so you don't want to wait until you can't take it anymore.

I've had both hips replaced as well and they have been a dream. Though my older one is a bit achey recently. Due to hobbling about because of how terrible my left knee has been left to get!

@K0OLA1D It took 5 years to get my knee done the first time, although this might have been because I was seen as “too young” to have it done (I had the PKR when I was 40).

I’ve been putting off seeing a doctor because I know they’ll take one look at me and say “go away and lose weight”. They’ll say I’m in pain because I’m fat, but actually I’m fat because I’ve been in pain for 20 years.

I'm young too. I was 31 when I had my 1st knee. 33 now.

I've put weight on since my first hip at 27. It's all down to the lack of mobility. I can barely get around my house at the moment.

Are you under a consultant?

No, I’ve not seen anyone since the operation.
