I normally would make a birthday cake as a tend to find shop bought are often kind of dry. But I haven’t got time this year. Has anyone had one recently that was good? Chocolate or vanilla is fine. It’s a boys cake so not too flowery pink decor

Marks and Spencer's .. honestly. The jam and cream filling is tasty .I know there are all shapes etc but I always go back to it.If you want to different just buy red velvet 😍😍😍

I agree homemade are so much better! If you have access to Costco, their large cakes are good (we like the chocolate cake, rather than the actual birthday cakes they sell) but it depends how many people will be eating it.

I recently had this one from M&S and it was surprisingly good, although some of the reviews say it’s quite dry so maybe we got lucky.

Yes I was thinking M&S is probably best option. My dc are old enough now that taste is prioritised over the decoration. So don’t think they will be too bothered what it looks like. I had a taste of a cosco one once and it was nice. I am actually wondering if I need to register with cosco just for this

Costco every time. It's the only reason I got a membership

We had one from Waitrose for my dad's 80th. It was delicious and moist.

Unfortunately we haven’t got a Waitrose close by

M&S cakes are tasty.

I recently bought their lemon and blueberry. Also in the past had caterpillar cake and Victoria sponge. Can't fault them.

I like M and S for cakes as well, have had the caterpillar, Victoria Sponge and Red Velvet, all 3 were lovely.

The Betty crocker cake mixes are yum

If you have a Cakebox near you, they are lovely and fresh cream too 😋

Marks and Spencer's are the best bet and have some to suit all tastes and occasions
