How to stop breastfeeding my boob mad 13 month old

My 2nd son is 13 month and exclusively breastfed, but the frequent waking for boob is killing me now. I am permanently exhausted from it, because he always wants to boob back to sleep, and if I try other methods he just cries and cries. I feel we've got to the point that he is forcing me to have to just end our breastfeeding journey completely because I'm getting angry at him for waking / wanting boob all through the night, which is then making me feel guilty for getting so frustrated with him, because I'm so tired. I'm sad to have to stop, because it's such a wonderful bond and I love feeding him (just not up to 10 times a night!) and I also know we're not having another baby, so I'll never do this again, so I know it's going to me difficult to stop - for us both. I went cold turkey with my 1st who was exactly the same when he was 16 months but I can't remember how I did it. Would you just say "it's all gone" in the morning, and just stick with that until he stops asking? :(

DH took on night time weaning although DS wasn’t waking up in the night but was being breastfed before going to bed. Was then offered water if woke in the night.

Didn’t take very long if I remember, but I guess it would be different if you have to deal with numerous night wake ups

Can you leave him with his dad for a couple of nights?

I remember speaking to a sleep consultant with my first who saod I need to do it, or he'll just expect boob again once I'm back....

Hello, I’m wondering how you got on without the breastfeeding? My baby doesn’t wake 10 times but normally 3 or 4 and is always breastfed to sleep. Unless I go away! (Rarely) but I know he will take a bottle just doesn’t drink much compared to feeding…..also getting so tired of waking to feed! Hope it went ok

Yes it went fine thank you, I stopped at 18 months, so about a month ago now. Just decided one morning to say it had finished, couple of protests but nothing major, he adjusted quickly thank you :) they always do i find x
