Cruises,

My partner loves to cruise as a holiday. I can see the benefits of a cruise. Often it can be a budget holiday with all in one - flights, week on board a ship, food, drinks package for about 1200 pounds. And then you see a few different parts of countries. It can be nice. You are never bored on a ship. And the drinks package is great. Getting drunk on cocktails.

The last cruise we went on was a medical cruise the year before last. My eyes were open to bad manners after the covid pandemic.

I saw so many bad manners on board the shop. People walking around the buffet coughing. Other people's coughs came deep within their chests coughing up a lung or two. My partner was completely oblivious to other people's bad manners and he didn't care and I felt he had no comprehension of what was going on around him. The coughs I saw of people clearly sore in their chests, coughing up a lung or two was much more than an ordinary cold and it was much more than say hayfever. It was everywhere on the ship.

I was about three days on the ship and that k goodness I had my thermometer with me. I came down with a cough and fever.

There was definitely a virus going around on that ship. I became unwell at that point for up to a week. Another thing I had to travel home too with a bad cough because I couldn't afford to stay on for a few more days til the cough cleared.

Basically I hate the idea of going on another cruise. I don't want to spend my hard earned money on a cruise just to be surrounded by other people's bad manners and just to go and get sick. I could like go into town and stand in a ward in the hospital and get sick for free instead of spending over thousands.

This isn't me being paranoid of covid. I had a weekend break to Europe earlier in the year and I got on a bus, went to the airport, got on a plane and travelled into Europe for a few days and then travelled back again and I never got sick once from any of that.

I think it's all so humid on a ship and so enclosed and I think that contributes to illness.

I was ill for the past few weeks as well just from what started as a headcold. It progressed into much more.

I just don't want to put myself into the way of picking up more illness. I can handle an illness better at home too and not while I am away. At home I have my supplements and medicines but when I am away I am not going to have half of what I will need.

Would it be ok to tell my partner a big fat no on a cruise and find a different holiday to go on.
