For some reason it always cracks me up when I see someone post “you don’t need to be so rude!” purely because I can immediately picture a tiny Hermione granger getting incredibly cross at whatever was just typed.

Also “it really boils my piss” I mean where the FUCK did that come from? I’ve never heard that saying in real life, it’s hilarious! Again, very dramatically angry!

I mean not only are you pissing like some massive fire hose, you’re boiling it (!) woah!

When someone says 'only on mumsnet' or 'well, I've never heard/seen that in real life' about something completely normal and commonplace, just shows what an insular life they lead!

I've always imagined the piss boiling within them, rather than after it's been expelled.

Oh wow I hadn’t thought of it like that!

There was something a few months ago (can't recall what thread was about) where someone said Kelvin Mackenzie (I think Sun editor) had had new information about some story they were running and had popped out of his office shouting 'reverse ferret'.....meaning not to run some story which had put 'the cat amongst the pigeons'...(to mix metaphors). But he used 'ferret up the trousers'. It makes me smile every time. Chuckling now as I type this.

Eveey now and then, I think of the thread in classics - something like "expectations versus reality". I purposely look for it whenever I'm feeling down. There's a few corkers that make me cry laughing. My favourite is the lady who got a perm and a family member said "bloody hell, it's Colonel Gaddaffi!" And the lady who wore a long floral dress and her husband said "you look like you should be walking down a hospital corridor with a drip". And Suzi Quattro's fat nan! Oh I'm chuckling away now.
