Has anyone been? Was it good? Really would love to go, but would be so grateful if anyone has any tips on where best to sit, ticket discounts etc! 🙂

It’s incredible. I went with only a mild interest with some super fans and was bowled over. The technology is insane - they actually open with some lesser known numbers and the rumour is it’s because so many people have their jaw dropped and exclaiming at it.

Seating wise, the arena is much smaller than I thought but it means you get a great view regardless. My only tip is to try and sit on the right (when you’re facing the stage) as the you get to see the Abbatars more than the live band, but there really are no bad views.

No tips on cheap seats I’m afraid but others may come along: I’ve been twice and they’re definitely increasing the longer it goes. Dance floor seats are cheapest and totally worth it if you’re mobile.

It's fantastic. There is an old thread with all the tips, I will see if I can find it.

BeaRF75 · 20/03/2024 17:27

I thought it was creepy, and I couldn't cope with an audience applauding "people" who aren't there, but I did enjoy it.

Be aware that it's only 90 minutes straight through, so you might want to plan something to do afterwards, stay somewhere near a restaurant, bar etc.

This is on my list. Hopefully in the summer

Really? I don't know anyone else who found it creepy. I found it emotional, even nostalgic but I lived through when they used to look that young and I suppose part of the emotion is looking back to my youth.

DollyBantry · 20/03/2024 17:36

Have seen it twice - once seated with my parents and once standing with friends. Both times were fantastic!

JosieRay · 20/03/2024 17:36

I thought it was amazing. We had returned tickets and sat on the left hand side which was fine. By the end, everyone was standing and singing and dancing. After a few minutes it starts to feel like they are all real and you get swept along by the light show and the amazing atmosphere. Everyone is there for a great time.
We didn’t dress up but some do. There are food and drinks in the foyer of the arena. The only negative thing I would say is that you can take bought food in. The couple next to us had huge hotdogs and the smell was awful!!
I would definitely go again.

What about 'mama Mia the party'?

Anyone been?

But there are real people on stage - musicians, dancers, singers/actors playing ABBA etc.

Not the real ABBA, but real performers! In addition to all the technology.

I went last week with friends. It was a different story to the film/theatre, and basically a vehicle for a sing/dancealong and we had a great night. Food was decent and the drinks packages were quite reasonable.

We went midweek and on the balcony (still good view and probs more space) which was way cheaper than the elite seating!

Theoldwrinkley · 20/03/2024 17:52

Only one word for it...unbelievably good (ok, that's 2). But it is unbelievable. And it surpasses 'good'. This view of a non-ABBA fan who only went because my (autistic) son wanted to go. Best thing I've done in years! Only tip....eat before you go!

AuntieDolly · 20/03/2024 18:21

I get tickets from here:

theatreexpress.co.uk/shop/

Not mega cheap, but always good seats

marshmallowfinder · 20/03/2024 19:06

Thanks so much everyone! I really appreciate your comments. 🥰

I loved it ! Was on the dancefloor with a group of friends. Am going back in July too. I was bowled over by it - they are soooo real. 😂

catmomma67 · 20/03/2024 19:10

i thought it was ok.. nothing more than that!

Bananalanacake · 20/03/2024 19:24

Is it suitable for kids, I'll have a 7 and nearly 10 year old with me.

chickenpieandchips · 20/03/2024 19:35

Mondays are cheaper than Saturdays. The seats are all great so book what you fancy.
Dancefloor great if you've had a bit of wine and want to party.
Pre order drinks as less queue.
Go to Canary Wharf or Stratford first/after for food. One bar outside and nothing else.
Look up towards the end and if are like me you'll get envious of the costumes they have! I want the white dress from the end!
Listen to the playlist on Spotify first. First few songs are obscure ones and then it gets going.

didn’t see any kids the night I went

Toomuch44 · 20/03/2024 19:40

We've been, sitting anywhere central/off centre will be fine. You can also have standing room on the dance floor, but that wouldn't have been for us - people were sat on dance floor while waiting for show to begin and then it looked cramped. We eat in Stratford beforehand, it was a nightmare to find somewhere to eat and when we did, it was like a cattle market - very quick, not a chance to finish eating before your bill came. We didn't realise there would be street food in the foyer and would certainly have done that instead.

HelloMiss we've also done Mamma Mia the Party, before lockdown. If I had to do one again, I'd chose that (also DH would). Has a real feel good factor, lots of people in good spirits on entry and after. Food was good and served on platters, if something was popular at the table, they'd bring more. Great to sit, eat and be entertained, but also there was dancing afterwards. Also, surrounding area as nicer.

chickenpieandchips · 20/03/2024 19:46

It's fine for kids. Bit of a waste of money if they don't get ABBA. But will have a great time if they do.

StiggyZardust · 20/03/2024 20:05

It was one of the weirdest things I've ever been to. As someone up the thread said it was slightly creepy. It is seriously overpriced. I thought the best bit was the lighting.

Lemevoir · 20/03/2024 20:13

I really enjoyed it. Booked almost a year in advance and got ridiculously cheap tickets (£22.50, I think) at the side. I've heard that the Abbatars look 'flatter' side on than if you were sitting/standing more centrally, but it was still really amazing.

And re applauding people who are 'not there', as someone else has pointed out, there is a live band on stage. That's technically amazing too - I'm not a musician and I've got no idea how they keep time with the recorded ABBA voices.

creekpassage · 20/03/2024 20:14

Get dance floor tickets, there's lots of space.

Dress up, there's no shame.

I was among the youngest one there at 40!

It helps getting a bit squiffy/in the party mood!

It's all a bit uncanny valley to me and I enjoyed it but went with some hardcore fans and they LOVED it.

There's a cool cheesy bar playing all the hits outside to carry on the night, snoozebox I think it's called.
