I reported an ex colleague for sexual assault a year ago (assault happened in 2017). I couldn’t remember his name (hospital, you have so many colleagues you
lose track) and couldn’t track him down on registers etc.
A close friend (colleague) is a witness, and gave a statement to the police.
Police rang me today saying investigation has stepped up a fair bit, they now know a lot more information.
I never asked but am I legally allowed to tell friend that, or does that count as influencing a witness or something?
