Where are all of the pens?

Not just right now, I have plenty in my pen mug and a couple in the car, but where do the other ones go?

I'm 55 and I've used many, many pens over the years, but only a small handful of them have actually been used until they run out and have been binned. So where are all of the others? Where do they go? Is there someone somewhere discarding multiple empty pens to equalise my 'missing in action' ones?

If everyone uses more pens than they discard, why are we not already knee deep in part used biros?

Pencils are far more loyal - why is this?

Forbidden romances (and thus elopements) between pens and socks are far more common than we think. Your pens are likely having an extended honeymoon with the socks that went into the washing machine and never came out again.

Pencils are loyal because they rely on humans to sharpen them.

They’re all in my DC’s drawer! All 72947610 of them, along with the 3908 notebooks - sorry about that!
The child is obsessed with stationery, obsessed I tell ya! 😂

They are in a symbiotic relationship with the lost socks, in another dimension.

Agree with Pp they are in a far away land with all the odd socks
I think my forks and hair bobbles are also there .
